After that,Marie left San Fetillo and went to Alsburg City. After more than ten years of hard work, she became a famous specialist. But this was not the life she wanted. If it wasn't for Steven and Myra, she would not have gotten into such a situation. She would be living lavishly with Malcom as his rich wife instead of being just a doctor.

Although she was well-known in the medical world, she was nothing compared to those ladies living in rich families. If that incident hadn't happened, would she be in this situation? She hated both Myra and Steven even more now.

During Marie's time as a famous doctor in Alsburg city, Steven also got transferred over to the city as a politician. Marie was genuinely happy to see how well her daughter was doing, apart from having such a horrible father of course.

If truth be told, she hadn't any ill intention towards Irene. It was Irene who chose to fall in love with Edric that Lily was in love with first. Irene's behavior was as shameless as her mother, Myra.

Margaret was snobbish and wanted to have a grandson. With this information, Marie and Deborah came up with a vicious plan. They would let Loraine secretly drug Irene while staying in the Myers family so Irene could never get pregnant.

For two years, Irene and Edric had no children. Margaret brought Irene to the hospital for a check-up and they consulted none other than the famous doctor, who was also their best friend, Marie.

Since Irene was taking medicines that made her infertile, the test results naturally showed that she was barren.

Being infertile meant that Irene could not give birth. Marie also added a lot of details telling Margaret that it would be hard for Irene to get pregnant in this life. By throwing in a lot of medical jargon, she had made Margaret and Irene believe her words.

Since they knew that Irene would never be able to have a child, they started to focus on how to get Lily and Edric together.

Everything was going as they planned. Edric eventually gave in to Margaret and agreed to get a surrogate.

Lily was successfully impregnated. As long as she could give birth to a child, Irene would be kicked out of the picture. However, something went wrong with the pregnancy. In the end, Marie and Deborah agreed to expose Lily's identity to Irene and get rid of Irene at the same time.

The plan went well. Irene was kicked out and she went far away.

Marie and Deborah's plan was indeed very intricate. They were close to success when something came up again after the engagement of Edric and Lily. Edric guessed that Myra never took them away at all. Instead, she let them stay in Chijmes Building, and that was why Thomas had always been there.

However, Edric did manage to uncover one clue. Around twenty years ago, Myra had stayed in Cat Alley for a period of time. It was winter then and she wore thick clothes, making her look a little chubby. Besides Sugar, no one had seen Myra interacting with anyone else.

Sugar was Deborah's nickname. The person who had mentioned this had mistaken Marie for Myra since they looked alike. Furthermore, they never had much contact back then. It was only expected that others would confuse the two.
