The next morning, Marie went to the hospital. As soon as she entered, she ran into Tommy. After going back, Tommy's anger had been building up at the thought of how his mother had drugged Cecilia. The more he thought about it, the more uncomfortable he felt. He had not dared to tell Cecilia that his mother was the one who had caused her miscarriage. With no one to talk to, he had no choice but to go to his friend, Sam, to complain.

Tommy did not tell Sam the full truth either. He did not dare to mention that his biological mother was Loraine, or that she worked as a nanny for Edric. He just briefly said that his mother had objected to him and Rosa being together. Additionally, when he did not listen, his mother had drugged Rosa and caused her to have a miscarriage and large blood loss. He even told Sam that his mother had told the doctor not to tell him the real reason behind the miscarriage because she did not want him to find out. If Tommy had not overheard that discussion the other day, he would never have known.

"Could it be a misunderstanding? How could your mother harm your child?" Sam had a look of disbelief on his face, "Could it be that she had been aggravated by someone else?"

"She did it. She has already admitted it," Tommy shook his head, "Who would provoke her anyway?"

"It's hard to say. Maybe your mother had complained about it to her friend, and that friend gave her that idea," Sam asked tentatively, "Is your mother close to that doctor?"

"They're pretty close!" Tommy replied.

"Do you think it's possible that the doctor was the one who had put the idea into your mother's head? Haven't you always praised your mother for treating you so well? I mean, who would harm their own kin? Although you're quite old, you have no other children No matter how cruel your mother is, there's no way she would want to kill off her own grandchild. However, a doctor is different. They've seen too much of life and death so they're numb to it."

Tommy felt like Sam's words made sense. Naturally, he knew a little bit about the affairs between his mother, Marie and Deborah. Marie was a horrid woman. Margaret had treated her so well yet she had the audacity to harm Edric. Why wouldn't she do the same to Tommy? It was very possible that his mother did indeed discuss this matter with Marie, and Marie had given her the idea.

Sam continued adding fuel to the fire as he spoke. The more Tommy thought about it, the more he felt like it must be so. It must have been Marie who had incited this plan.

Sam decided to give him a suggestion. He told Tommy that doctors earned a pretty high salary. Since he had already fallen to this point, he should at least go get some compensation back from that doctor to recover his losses.

Tommy had been very short of money lately. Upon hearing Sam's suggestion, his eyes lit up. From what he knew, Marie was just a doctor, and she had no powerful figure backing her up so he had nothing to worry about. Once he set his mind to it, he went to visit the hospital. When he saw Marie come in, he stopped her and said, "I've been waiting a long time for you!"

"What are you doing here?" Marie frowned when she saw Tommy.

"What am I doing? Aren't you ashamed to ask me why? Let me ask you, were you the one who provoked my mother to give my wife a Plan B pill?"

"What nonsense are you on about?" Marie reached out and shoved Tommy away.

"Nonsense? You shameless old b*tch. People become doctors to save lives, but you have become a doctor to murder people. My wife almost died because of you. I'm warning you, I'm not going to let this slide!" Tommy grabbed Marie by her collar.

"Let go of me! Let's talk about this calmly!" Marie started to panic. She could not let anyone else know about her collusion with Loraine. So, she softened her tone, "Let's talk over there."

Seeing that she had lowered her voice, Tommy thought that she was feeling guilty. He had come to her for money anyways so he followed her to a quiet corner, "How are you going to solve this problem?"

"I'm telling you, I didn't harm your wife. I played no part in that," Marie tried to persuade him.

"You played no part in that? Do you think that I'm just a three- year- old?" Tommy's voice suddenly rose.

"Keep your voice down. That really has nothing to do with me. That day, your mother had come to me and asked me to help conceal it."

"Save it. My mother is nowhere near as vicious as you. You hurt Margaret and Edric, and you're evil right down to your bones. It must have been you who had incited my mother!" Tommy refused to listen to her explanations, "My wife is in this state now and my child is gone You'd better f*cking compensate me! If you don't, then I'll spread the word and let everyone know what a piece of sh*t you are!"

Marie understood that Tommy was trying to blackmail her. She felt hatred in her heart and thought, "How did that b*tch Loraine raise such an a*shole?"

However she did not dare to offend him. As the saying went, a man who had nothing, feared nothing. Tommy was a gangster now, and he had nothing to his name so he had nothing to lose. Meanwhile, she was a renowned doctor. If this matter blew up, she would not benefit from it. Or worse yet, if Tommy brought up the matters about her and Loraine, and word of it got to Edric, she would be doomed.

Marie held back her anger and asked Tommy how much he wanted. He stretched out two fingers, "Two hundred thousand dollars?" Marie asked tentatively.

Tommy had originally just planned to get twenty thousand dollars from her. Unexpectedly, she offered him way more. He nodded immediately. Marie lowered her voice and said, "I don't have so much money on me now. I will call you when I have gathered enough money."

Tommy left the hospital after Marie's promise. Marie was really upset. She was on a spout of bad luck recently. First, Malcolm had left her and got back together with his wife. He had even kicked her out so now she was basically homeless. Then, Tommy came to blackmail her. How much worse could things get?
