The room stays quiet; after so long, I watch Alaric answer his phone and leave.
"I'm getting to bed." Standing, I walk out and go to Jake's room. Throwing the pillow on the floor for him, I change into the few items I have here and climb into bed.
I wake feeling the bed move and arms wrap around me. The feel of Jake's hand sliding down my stomach makes me move.
"You're meant to be on the floor!"
"Come on, babes."
"Don't babes me! I'm only here because you haven't told your dad yet!"
"You haven't changed, have you?" He laughs slightly.
"Fuck you, Jake. I'm not staying in here with you." Standing, I walk downstairs, lying on the sofa, I turn the tv on. I watch it, I should just sleep, but knowing Jake, he will come down and try again.
Somewhere in his mind, he thinks I am going to fuck him. A short while later, I hear the door and turn to it, watching as Alaric walks in. He stops and looks at me as he locks it.
"You're up late."
"Technically, it's early. I was asleep, but Jake decided to climb into bed with me, so I came down." I shrug and turn back to the TV.
"You should never have agreed to come with him." He sits and looks at me.
"I didn't know what to say, Alaric. He was saying you had insisted I came. Then I saw you put my phone in my bag, and I thought that was why. Because I had left my phone here, I thought I left it at the club."
"No, I came home and heard it. You had left it in Jake's room when getting ready." Well, that explains it. "How did your research go?" He looks at me.
"Good. I read quite a bit of the contract and searched a lot. The more I read, the more I realised I had no idea about the lifestyle, and what I did know was useless or wrong."
He chuckles and nods. "Look, I'm letting Jake tell me. My plan is, for every day he fails to be honest and tell me the truth, is a month I withhold his inheritance. That is after he earns it back."
"He will tell you when he realises you stopped the money." He isn't dumb.
"I won't be; there is a cap placed on his spending. He shouldn't have forced you to come back and lie for him."
"I didn't. I came under the belief he would tell you the truth."
"Is that the only reason?" He looks at me, and I nod. "About earlier."
