Lorrie wanted to unsettle Pearl, to show her she wasn't someone to mess with. She picked up the document and tore it in half. "In that case, our collaboration ends here."

Pearl smiled. "If that's your decision, I believe you'll regret it."

Leaning back, Lorrie appeared nonchalant. "And why would I regret it?"

"Because without Cerebleu, Lawson Enterprises' advancement in the chip industry will be limited."

Lorrie nearly burst out laughing. "You say that so casually. While I agree Cerebleu is formidable, it's not as if our progress relies solely on it."

Pearl remained confident. "You'll find out soon enough if that's true." Standing up, she added, "There are other players in the chip industry besides Lawson Enterprises."

Lorrie's smile faded. "Of course, I'm aware. But as of now, you haven't secured another partner."

Pearl suddenly turned to face Lorrie, showing no signs of fear. "Do I seem scared to you?"

Lorrie felt annoyed. She disliked Pearl's air of unwavering certainty as though victory was assured without effort. "Don't celebrate too soon, Pearl. Overconfidence isn't a virtue."

Pearl chuckled. "Rest assured, two years ago you couldn't affect me, and it's no different now."

Lorrie widened her eyes in disbelief. "How dare you!"

"Do you know how much I suffered abroad? When I was in a coma, Hugo actually tried to stop my medical equipment to let me die. Luckily, the nurse was a friend of mine, and I managed to escape.

"When I woke up, the first thing I did was investigate that matter, and I found out Hugo was the one who did it. How could he, the man who loved me so much and had such a long relationship with me, do such a thing? It must have been at your instigation. You must have bewitched him, that's why he did that to me!"

"That matter has nothing to do with me." Pearl sighed in frustration. "Jenny, I've never thought you couldn't match me, and I've never wanted to compete with you."

"You're talking nonsense. Didn't you try so hard to suppress me just to let me know I'm nothing in your eyes?" Lorrie always felt Pearl was hypocritical. She couldn't understand why Richard would be attracted to such a woman.
