Sean picked up the child and was about to leave when Pearl called out, "Sean!"

"It'll be fine," he said calmly and walked away.

Pearl and Richard felt a bit better knowing the child was safe with Sean. They were relieved but also puzzled. Why did Sean, who was single and not dating anyone, want to adopt Richard's child?

They thought about how this might cause problems if Sean got married later on. It would be fine if he never got married, but if he did, his future wife might not accept the child.

Richard broke the silence, "Sean's love for you, Pearl, made him do this. He's being selfless to ensure you can have a good marriage without any worries."

Pearl shook her head, convinced it wasn't that simple. "There’s more to it. Sean respects you, Richard, and he's taking on this responsibility for deeper reasons."

They shared a silent, emotional look, trying to hold back tears.

Pearl, regaining her composure, changed the subject. "We need to figure out who killed Jasmine. I think it was Lorrie."

Pearl had discovered Jasmine wasn't hiding because of debtors but from them. The only person who would have a grudge against Jasmine would be Lorrie.

Wayne walked over and when he saw them in the hospital lobby, asked, "Pea, where's the kid you mentioned?"

Wayne's voice pulled the pair back to reality, and Pearl smiled. "We don't need to take care of the child for now."

Wayne didn't know what had happened but was relieved now that the issue was resolved. "Why do you still look so worried then?"

"Because we can't find a way to make the killer pay," Pearl said, determined to fulfill her promise to Chester.
