She didn't know who Pearl was, but she could tell she wasn't someone to take lightly.

"I'm here to see your lawyer."

Summer stuttered, "He went out this morning and hasn't come back. Do you want to wait here?"

"Where did he go?"

Seeing Pearl's angry face, Summer wondered if James had flirted a bit too much. How did he end up attracting such an impressive woman?

"I think he's out for a business meeting, but he should be back in about half an hour."

Pearl suddenly smiled. "Okay, I'll wait for him here."

Summer thought Pearl looked even more intimidating when she smiled.

"You can tell me why you're here, and I can help get things ready." Summer didn't want to upset Pearl, sensing she was more than meets the eye, so she tried to sound friendly.

"It's fine. Just arrange a meeting for me. I can't tell you why I'm here."

Pearl wasn't ready to give up, though. She stood up, smiling again. "Tell him if he doesn't come to see me, I'll visit him at home."

Summer quickly agreed, realizing Pearl had caught on. Trying to ease the tension, she said, "I don't know your name or who you are, but just so you know, our lawyer is engaged. It's best to leave him be. He's from a powerful family. I couldn't do anything when he hurt my friend…"

She sighed, lost in thought.

Pearl perked up. "Who's your friend? Did he hurt her too?"

Summer felt Pearl had been wronged by him, so she shared a bit more. "Yes, my friend is stunning, like an actress. She used to date our lawyer, but then he suddenly broke up with her."
