Esther's eyes gleamed. "Don't worry, I'll be there when you need me. I'll show them I'm the best proof!"

"Good, then. I'll get some food while you rest."

Esther rubbed her stomach, feeling hungry because she hadn't eaten for quite a while. "Okay, I'll wait here for you."

Pearl smiled and left the room. Once she was outside and removed her protective suit, she noticed she was drenched in sweat.

Despite feeling tired lately, she was happy to keep busy.

The nurse who usually looked after Esther was checking her charts when Pearl approached and asked, "Is it time for Esther's check-up?"

Startled, the nurse jumped. "Y-Yes."

Pearl found the nurse's reaction odd but couldn't figure out why. "Why do you seem distracted? Aren't you getting enough rest?"

The nurse seemed embarrassed by Pearl's gentle concern. "Oh, no… it's nothing."

"Could you please check on Esther?"

"Of course. I'll help however I can."

Pearl nodded with a humble smile. "I need you to watch someone for me."

"Who is it?"

Pearl pointed to the window overlooking Esther's room. "The nurse taking care of Esther seems strange. I'm not sure why. Could you keep an eye on her for me?"

The doctor looked at the nurse's slim figure, then suddenly remembered and slapped his forehead. "That nurse? Oh, I know her. She’s usually very careful and attentive."
