Richard gently pinched her cheek and offered a reassuring smile. "Don't worry about it. I've already started the investigation since I first got suspicious."

Pearl was surprised that Richard had taken such a smart step without her knowing and felt a weight lift off her shoulders after days of stress. "That's great! Just let me know if I can help in any way."

Richard laughed softly. "Do you think my investigation needs help?"

Pearl stopped for a moment. She hadn't known that Richard had such resources. Seeing his confidence, Pearl clicked her tongue. "I wouldn't have guessed you were doing this behind my back."

Richard almost choked in surprise. "What? Why does it sound like I'm doing something terrible secretly?"

Pearl crossed her arms, looking annoyed. "Aren't you?"

Richard playfully pretended to be upset and pulled her close. "How can you say that? You have no proof. I should punish you for such accusations."

Pearl struggled to breathe in his tight embrace. "Alright, alright, do what you want, just let me go. I can't breathe."

Richard released her, and Pearl quickly stepped away. "Just kidding!" she exclaimed.

Richard sighed, unable to stay mad at his wife.

"We're in a hospital. People can hear," Pearl whispered, glancing nervously around.

"We're all adults here, they understand," Richard calmly responded. "You haven't been home in weeks so you're coming back with me, even if I have to pick you up and carry you myself."

Pearl knew he wouldn't give up easily, so she finally agreed. "Okay, okay, I'll go home with you."

Richard's face lit up at her agreement.
