Darius's subtle expression caught both Pearl and Richard off guard. This gave Richard a chance to take a closer look at his son.

Looking at his fair little face, every frown and furrow felt familiar. Indeed, he was his son. There was no doubt about it.

"Of course, I'm your dad." Richard expected Darius to be overjoyed, but the boy glanced at him indifferently and then showed a slightly disdainful expression. Richard didn't quite understand why.

"...you look kinda creepy," Darius bluntly concluded.

Pearl immediately understood why Darius said that after recalling what had just happened.

Pearl and Richard exchanged a glance, both blushing uncontrollably.

"Darius, let me explain…" Pearl began, but Darius simply turned his head, offering her a kind smile. "I know you're innocent, Mom. This man is the real troublemaker."

Richard reached out and flicked Darius on his forehead. "What do you mean 'this man'? I'm your dad."

Darius cautiously took a few steps back but stood before Pearl. "Talk is cheap. Do you have any proof that you're my dad? And if you are, why have you never come to find us after all these years?" In other words, he was implying that it would be too easy for Richard to claim to be his father just by saying so.

Richard didn't expect his son to be so intelligent.

When Luther saw Richard, he didn't look panicked. With an amused expression, he said, "I didn't expect you to track us down here, Mister Richard."

"If I hadn't come, I wouldn't have known what you've been up to." Richard had been wearing a sour expression the whole time.

Seeing the two of them talking, Pearl understood they were probably at odds.

"I lingered for a while over there, so I'm a bit late to pick you up." Luther completely ignored Richard. He went straight to Pearl's side and picked up her bag naturally. "Let's go."
