After they left, Pearl started to feel uncomfortable again.

Richard looked at her, unable to express the deep feelings he had been hiding for a long time. He just kept staring at her.

"How have you been all these years?"

She immediately regretted asking that question.

Sadness and a cold look appeared in Richard's eyes. "I wasn't good at all. I've missed you a lot over these years."

"How did you find me?" Pearl was curious but also worried, especially about Darius's safety. Richard had found out about Darius' kindergarten, which was frightening no matter why he did it.

"In the beginning, I couldn't find any reliable information. But in the last few months, I started getting helpful clues. Someone has been giving me important leads while I was searching for you. That's how I easily found this place. Wayne mentioned that you might be at Luther's company. He told me to hurry here, and I saw you near the company building. So, I followed you to the kindergarten."

Wayne? Pearl found that name familiar.

She mumbled a 'yes' and then asked, "Why didn't you find me sooner?"

"I've always been trying to find you."

Richard didn't try to stop her anymore. He asked, "Can I give you a ride home?"

"It's okay. I have a car."

Pearl deliberately ignored Richard's look of disappointment and left.

When she got home, she thought Darius was asleep, so she didn't turn on any lights. As she quietly passed his room, she saw him in Cinnamoroll pajamas, hugging a brown toy bear.

"Mom, you're finally home."

Darius rubbed his eyes and walked over. Pearl immediately hugged him tightly.
