"Why are you squatting here?" Darius smiled and pulled Joelle up. "Look at you. You got some dust on you from leaning against the wall."

Joelle pouted and frowned. "I was worried about you. Dar, did your dad say anything about you?"

"Of course not. He even helped me teach those two guys a lesson."

When Darius recalled how cool his father had been just now, a new idea formed in his mind. He realized that to protect Joelle better, he needed to become like his father. That way, no one would dare to bully her.

Joelle, unaware of Darius' thoughts, thought he was just zoning out. She tugged his arm. "Dar, stop thinking about that. Come and play with me."

Darius glanced at his smartwatch and shook his head. "But recess is almost over. You're going to have a lesson soon. You should be back in class."

Joelle didn't want to stay in the boring class. "I already know everything the teacher teaches. Plus, his lessons are so boring. I almost dozed off."

Darius knew Joelle was good at her studies. She had started learning first-grade material when she was three, and by now, she had learned everything about elementary school. She was even starting on junior high subjects.

When Darius left the cafe with the berry juice and sunscreen, he looked around but couldn't find Joelle. He assumed she was playing and had started building sandcastles on the beach. But after walking up and down the beach, he couldn't find her.
