Ever since Darius started working, his temper had changed, so Joelle was a bit worried about what Dante had said.

"Okay, didn't you say you're bringing me somewhere interesting? Let's go." Joelle tugged at Dante's shirt anxiously.

Dante reached out and patted her head. "Alright, let's go now."

Joelle nodded gratefully, but Darius watched their interaction with cold eyes. "You can't leave."

"Why not? Why do you care, Darius?" Dante pursed his lips, sounding disdainful. "Elle is an adult now. She can decide where she wants to go. Why are you trying to control her?"

Darius didn't speak, just stared at Joelle coldly.

After a long pause, Joelle finally let go of Dante's shirt, pressed her lips together, and left.

No one mentioned what happened that night, but after that incident, Joelle was even more afraid to be alone with Darius. She wanted to avoid him.

The school's opening ceremony arrived as scheduled. Staring at the figure sitting on the podium not far away, Joelle felt inexplicably uneasy and nervous.

Joelle got up and was ready to leave the stage when someone yelled out. She looked over to see Dante standing not too far away, waving at her with a familiar piano next to him.

Dante asked a few people to move the piano to the stage and take the broken one away. He then gave her a thumbs-up and cheered her on.

Joelle immediately felt confident and relaxed as she sat before the familiar piano.

This time, she lost herself in the music, imagining herself playing next to the window and gazing at the view outside.
