"Joelle."

When she heard her name, Joelle felt like she couldn't breathe. She turned around and forced a smile. "Dar. What are you doing here?"

"I could ask you the same thing." Darius noticed that Joelle was wearing a gown that was too big for her, and she looked pale. He figured she must be there because she was hurt.

"Nothing. Just a little sick."

"I remember Dante said you were staying at his place." Darius doubted this now because it was clear Dante had lied.

"He just didn't want everyone to worry. I'm recovering, so it's fine. By the way, weren't you talking to that lady? Go ahead. I'm going back to my room."

Joelle awkwardly chuckled and turned around, but Dante grabbed her arm. Her wound wasn't fully healed, so pain shot through her body.

Joelle's face twisted in pain, but she pretended to stay calm. "Is there anything else, Darius?"

Darius noticed her expression change and saw a patch of red soaking through her sleeve. He suddenly understood and pulled his hand away, shocked. "I'm sorry, I didn't know your arm…"

"It's fine. Is there anything else?"

"I'm not interested in your life, but if you hurt Elle, I won't let you get away with it."

Dante wasn't very close to Darius, but they weren't enemies either. Joelle felt she was the reason they were acting this way, so she was worried. "It's not his fault, Dante. Take me back to rest," she said.

Joelle led him back to her room, and when she sat down, Dante immediately pressed the call button for the nurse.
