Chapter 437
Mack’s p.o.v.
Our Alphas are already waiting for us and I smile when I see they even made sure that there is coffee for all of us, the moment they see the marks on our neck they congratulate us on completing the Mate-bond.
“You might not like that I am asking this question, but what the fuck are you doing here if you just marked your mate?” Dominic asks as he looks at the three of us.
“That would be my doing.” Maleah says. “I have a few questions and quite a few answers. I will start out with my questions before I will provide you with answers, I would like to know what the Alpha told you about your target.” Maleah says and Dominic grabs the file from his desk as I tell her that the Alpha is accusing her of causing trouble, that according to him she is sending Rogues to his pack.
“Is that all he is accusing her of?” Maleah asks and we all stare at her hoping she will provide us with answers. “I ran into her, maybe six or seven weeks ago, during one of my assignments, she wasn't doing too well and when I heard her story I realized this wasn't over by a long shot.
Little over two months ago her Father informed her that on her eighteenth birthday she would take the second Son of his best friend as her chosen Mate and that he will run the pack instead of her. Luckily she knows a little bit about herbs and she had picked a bouquet of flowers for in her bedroom, but no one realized that one of the flowers she picked can cause a very upset stomach if eaten unprepared.
She made sure she ate it the day before she turned eighteen, her Father didn’t want to risk her running off so he locked her in her room on the Alpha floor but she had been preparing for this day ever since her Father told her what he was planning.
She managed to escape that night but he had been chasing her ever since she had left Pack territory and she didn't get much rest with her Father's men constantly chasing her and when I found her she was near death.
I doubt her Father is aware of the fact that his men beat her almost within an inch of her life, but she managed to escape every single time and I think that pissed them off.
Resulting in the beatings she got over and over again, but I think the last time they caught on to her they had decided they were going to have some fun with her and it wouldn’t have ended with just a beating an rape, I truly believe it would have ended with her death.
The reason no one can find her is because I put her in one of my safe houses, I sometimes meet people along the way that need to escape a difficult situation and even though I am well connected as a businesswoman I can’t go around asking the people that I know to grant strangers asylum. Currently I have five males and three females in hiding and I still haven’t found a Pack that I feel comfortable enough with to ask for help.” Maleah tells us.
Maleah’s p.o.v.
As I look around the room I can see that each male is having trouble controlling their Lycan, “Maleah, you can get those males and females out of hiding, we will take them in and if you ever run into anyone again that needs a Pack to live in don’t hesitate to bring them here. They are more than welcome.” Dax says through gritted teeth.
I had already sent a message to my team to alert them to the assignment our Pack received and as I take a look at my phone I see that Pauline has sent me a message back, telling me that everyone is well protected at the safe houses.
I send her a message to relay the invitation from my Alphas and it only takes her ten minutes to reply We will be leaving soon and I inform my Alphas of the fact that soon they will have eight more Pack-members.
A moment later Elyse walks in and Dax explains to his Mother that new Pack-members are on their way, Dax rolls his eyes at his Mother when she says, “Maybe one of those females is your Mate, maybe she can knock some sense into you guys.” Not that she’s angry or upset with her Sons but I know and understand that as their Mother she is hoping they will finally find their Mate.
Elyse walks out of the office to make sure that there will be rooms prepared for our new Pack-members, there is a chance some of them won’t need it if they happen to feel a connection with one of our other Pack-members but it's better to be safe than sorry
“Do you have any more surprises for us, Maleah?” Dax asks.
I burst out in laughter and the rest are close behind me, Dax looks at me dumbfounded as Levi glides of the couch. I sense it the moment Elyse opens the door and when I look at her I see a huge smile on her face.
“Thank the Goddess, I thought they had forgotten how to laugh.” She says teasingly as she looks at her Sons, but we all sober up the moment Dax announces that our new Pack-members just crossed the border.
“Unfortunately her Father is close behind them.” He says and I pull out my phone to call Pauline.
“Go to my house, you know the access code for the attic.” I say the moment she answers and I follow our Alphas out of the office to wait for the caravan of SUVs to arrive at the Pack-house.
“Dad, I need you to head home. Act as if you have been there all day if anyone shows up, Pauline will hide Delaney on the attic and keep you company.” I tell him as we meet near the front door.
Dad doesn’t ask who Delaney is, he just turns on his heel and leaves the Pack-house through the living room. Colter walks into the Pack-house and tells me that he will keep them company as well, “Let someone try something with three Assassins in the house.” He mumbles as he walks away from us.
Kay places his arm around my waist as we see the SUVs pull up to the front porch. I see Harvey looking rather pissed off and I know it has everything to do with Delaney’s Father.
I am the first one to step of the front porch when Harvey gets out and heads to the back of the SUVs, he keeps staring towards the gate and I know he is waiting for Delaney’s Father to show up. Mack asks me what is problem is and I move a little closer to Kay.
“He was with me the day I found Delaney, he saw what they did to her.” I say softly, but I know they all heard me.
