Chapter 453
Mack’s p.o.v.

Okay, now I am definitely scared of my Mate.

Maleah told us to stay in the middle of the room as she handed Levi a pair of gloves, she explained she would need his help at some point during the assignment and she didn’t want to leave any kind of trace behind. I had a smirk on my face when she started climbing up the balconies above us and we followed her without saying a word, following her across the roof and down the balconies again.

She explained that she normally would wait until her target was asleep, but Nishay wouldn’t get a rude awakening from the Angel of Death.

I watched with curiosity as Maleah pulls sex toys from her bag and I gulped when I saw the item she used on Caym, I kept watching as Maleah put Nishay through hell and back again. When we left that room we all knew that Nishay would be dead by morning and we knew her death couldn’t be kept a secret.

We are enjoying our breakfast when a high pitched scream disturbs the peace and quiet, it only takes minutes for Investigators to enter the hotel lobby and within minutes after their arrival the rumors start spreading.

This is how the Angel of Death works and it doesn’t take long before we hear that name mentioned for the first time, it gets mentioned more the moment news gets out that Caym, Sarka and Tamish are dead too.

Phones start dinging and buzzing, everyone is reading whatever pops up on their phones and soon the entire restaurant is filled with one conversation topic. We also read every news item, but we read them for an entirely different reason.

We are told to remain in our seats until an Investigator has talked to us, we are not in a hurry to get out of here and I watch in amusement when others start to become impatient.

“Miss D’Angelo, I am sorry for delaying you in anyway.” An Investigator says and Maleah assures him that her schedule wasn’t messed up, just before she asks him if the rumors are true.

When he asks what we did last night she provides him with information he didn’t ask for, she tells him that we had dinner at Lunar Lantern last night and she makes a disgusted look when the Investigator mentions Tamish’s death.

She tells him that we spent the night here because we were curious about her career, “And what better way to show them than to take them to some of the boutiques I own.” Maleah says and after he looks at each of us he starts to smile, he congratulates us before he tells us we are free to go.

The moment we are in our suite I ask her what that was all about, she tells me that everyone is always curious about her private life and this will take the attention away from us being at or near both crime scenes.

“I think we should get ready to go home, we have a funeral to attend.” Levi says with a scowl on his face and I hear Maleah growl as she lets herself fall onto the bed.

None of us is happy to go to that funeral, but I think Maleah wants to show her Mother that she has a life of her own and that she isn’t a part of it nor will she ever be a part of Maleah’s life.

After all these years I still don’t understand why Tara rejected Diego or why she stuck around all these years, it is clear she never cared about anyone but herself. I hear Maleah growl again as I am packing up everything from the bathroom and I look around the corner to see Kay holding his phone in front of her face.

Alpha Bradley will not like my Mates coming along, but that has a totally different reason and I am going to enjoy the look on his face.

“What put that smile on your face?” Kay asks as he looks at me through the rearview mirror and I tell him that I was thinking about the look on Alpha Bradley’s face when we show up for the funeral. Levi asks why it made me smile.

“He probably expects me to stick with my Mother and I wouldn’t put it past him to forcefully mark me himself, after all Diablo isn’t around anymore to do it. But the three of you will make sure he doesn’t get close to me or for him to be able to isolate me.

He will find out I am not a Wolfless and defenseless female and he will find out I am capable of defending myself if he tries anything.” I say as I snuggle a little closer into Mack's side, not just to calm him down but also because I like being close to one of my Mates.

Kay and Levi both have a hand on my knees to calm themselves down, none of them like to hear anything about Alpha Bradley and I hear Fortune chuckling in my head.

She hopes that Alpha Bradley will try something at or after the funeral, anything to justify ripping his head off and a part of me hopes that he will make a mistake. The other part hopes he will understand that my Mates will take him down if he tries something and that he decides to settle for a peaceful life with my Mother.

Heay, a girl can dream can’t she? I just hope that my Mother for once will act as the adult she supposedly is.
