At that sight, everyone’s expressions turned even paler. Catalina also trembled subtly, and she unconsciously leaned toward Jared.

Jared reached out and wrapped an arm around her waist. Surprisingly, the latter didn’t resist.

Right then, she needed someone to comfort her most. Upon witnessing that scene at the side, Cloud couldn’t help but chuckle furtively.

Judith, on the other hand, merely rolled her eyes and turned her head to the other side.

“Danger!” Vermilion Demon Lord suddenly cried out in Jared’s consciousness field just then.

Before Jared could even react, the enormous sphere of light began to quake violently. Everyone felt a wave of dizziness wash over them.

At that moment, the lightning beast’s expression also changed drastically. It quickly warned, “Hang tight. I’m going to speed up.”

It manipulated the sphere of light to rapidly descend downward.

A burst of flames suddenly enveloped the sphere, accompanied by a series of cracking

noises. Shockingly, cracks then appeared on the orb.

Everyone’s expressions changed drastically.

Without the protection of the sphere of light, they would certainly end up dead were they to fall.

Right then, many of them were filled with regret.

They wished they had never come down in the first place, not only saving their spiritual stones but also escaping with their lives.

But at that point, it was too late for all that.

Suddenly, everyone saw a massive hand emerge from the darkness and lightly smack the sphere of light.

Boom!

The sphere of light shattered in an instant.

The lightning beast spewed a mouthful of blood and plummeted straight down.

The others also fell one after another, plunging headlong uncontrollably.

Catalina was still in Jared’s arms. She clutched the jade pendant in her hand tightly, a flicker of determination flashing across her eyes.

Just as she was about to activate the life- saving token, a terrifying force swept over them. Everyone was blown away like leaves in the wind, and their heads felt heavy before they succumbed to darkness.

After an indeterminate amount of time had passed, Jared slowly opened his eyes as he regained consciousness.

“What’s wrong, Ms. Lantz?” Jared hurriedly asked, leaning over.

“I seem to have injured my leg,” Catalina replied, her brows furrowing.

“What should we do, then? Shall I carry you?” Jared offered helplessly with his gaze fixed on her leg.

If his cultivation weren’t sealed he could heal her since that minor injury was nothing to him.

But right then, they were all ordinary people. Thus, there was nothing he could do.

Catalina, however, shook her head. “No, thanks. I’m afraid you might poke me with that rod in your pants.”

With that single remark from her, Jared’s face instantly flushed bright red.

“Ms. Lantz, I’m sorry. I… I didn’t mean it. In that case, I’ll carry you on my back. Then, I won’t poke you!”

While saying that, he crouched in front of Catalina.

“That works!” Catalina draped herself over his back, allowing him to carry her.

Although Jared’s strength had been sealed, carrying a woman on his back was still a breeze for him.
