"I don't know who switched me." Demi shook her head. She then looked directly at the police officers in front of her. "Do you guys know?"

"We only just found out about this. It was Ms. Ana Pitt's biological mother who switched you and her daughter when you were a newborn," Zack explained.

"Why did she do that?" Demi asked calmly.

Her expression made it seem like she was asking about someone else and not herself.

"Ms. Anna Pitt's mother, Jenny Makins, used to be an escort. She later had a drug and gambling addiction. Ms. Pitt's biological father was also involved in illegal activities, including pornography, drugs and gambling.

"Before Ms. Pitt was born, he was sentenced to prison for rape. Knowing her daughter would have a difficult life after birth, she decided to send her to live in a wealthy family," Zack explained in a steady, objective tone.

As Zack explained, Demi suddenly understood why Ana was so afraid of the truth being exposed.

If the truth came out, not only would she lose her status as Ms. Pitt, but she would also be stained by the filth of her biological parents. Her biological parents would drag her into the mire, reducing her to be lower than an ordinary person.

From being the daughter of a wealthy family to the daughter of an escort and rapist was like falling from heaven into hell. It was only natural for her to be afraid.

Henry was visibly agitated and puzzled, while Zack remained calm.

"So, you ran away?" Zack asked.
