When Ana, Thomas, and Alex reentered the tent, the production crew had already packed up and left.
The atmosphere in the tent was subdued after Ana ran out crying. The production crew filmed for a few more minutes before finally turning off the livestream.
Ana exhaled in quiet relief. She turned toward Demi, who was sitting cross-legged on a waterproof mat, studying Indorian with Maria.
Taking a deep breath, Ana approached them. "Demi, can we talk outside?"
"You can just speak here," Demi replied without looking up, her tone icy.
Ana froze.
Maria glanced at her briefly before returning to the Indorian lesson, deliberately ignoring the tension.
"I'm sorry," Ana blurted suddenly, bowing her head.
Demi finally lifted her gaze. "What exactly are you sorry for?"
"I shouldn't have thrown your necklace into the trash. I was upset and didn't realize it was yours at the time. But I went back and picked it up again later," Ana said as she straightened up, her eyes red and puffy.
The other cast members exchanged glances. So, Ana really had thrown the necklace away. They knew Demi wouldn't lie about something like that.
Demi scoffed and replied, "Ana, you're lying again. What's the point? After one lie gets exposed, you decide to cover it with another?"
"I'm not!" Ana protested, her eyes welling up with fresh tears.
"Did you really think I'd forgive you?" Demi's voice was icy as she stared Ana down. "Let me make it clear that I won't. Firstly, this isn't the only conflict between the both of us. Every single one of them makes forgiveness impossible. Secondly, you show up with this pathetic lie of an apology, with not even the bare minimum of sincerity, and expect what, exactly?"
Ana swallowed hard as panic flickered through her. She'd promised Stephen that she'd make this right.
"I… I know I was wrong," she whispered, her tears falling. "Please forgive me just this once."
Demi ignored Ana and turned to Maria with sudden warmth. "Let's pick up where we left off."
Across the tent, Alex stood rigid. He was calling Stephen on a staff members' phone—the video call captured every second of Demi's rejection.
Stephen's face turned purple with rage as he instructed, "Make her kneel in repentance tonight. Make sure she doesn't stop apologizing until Demi forgives her."
