Chapter 6
The mighty Alpha heir sank to his knees, his composure finally breaking completely.
“Go back to her, Liam. She’s the one cursed by the Moon Goddess, the one who doesn’t have much time left. Don’t waste another precious moment she has.”
Respite my anger, a part of me still wanted him to do the honorable thing – to give Sarah a peaceful passing when her time came.
“If you want to redeem yourself, Liam, don’t do anything foolish. Your pack needs you, Sarah needs you. Think of them, for once.”
And with that, I turned and walked away. As I left, I heard him howl – a sound of pure anguish that echoed through the terfitory.
My heart ached for what we’d lost, for the love that had once seemed as eternal as the moon herself. But I knew I have my own path now. I deserved a love that was true, a mate who wouldn’t break our bond when things got difficult.
Afer I left the Silver Moon Pack, I heard about him through pack whispers, though I tried
not to listen.
The night I left, he’d returned to Sarah’s side.
Her curse had accelerated after our confrontation at the Sacred Circle. She’d fallen into a
death–sleep, her wolf unable to shift, barely clinging to life.
Liam never left her chambers. He held her hand, whispering apologies, and eventually completed their mate bond in a private ceremony – a last attempt to slow the curse’s
progression.
She passed into the Goddess’s embrace peacefully, they said, with a serene smile on her
face. Liam, however, was destroyed.
At Sarah’s moon–passing ceremony, he drank wolf’s bane liquor until he couldn’t stand, refusing all comfort from his pack members.
After Breaking The Mark His Dosnerate Chase
Chapter 6
He withdrew from pack life entirely, neglecting his Alpha heir duties. The pack whispered that he hadn’t shifted since Sarah’s death, his wolf too grief–stricken to emerge.
Then, one night, my phone lit up with an incoming call.
“Aria, it’s Marcus.” Liam’s Beta’s voice was tight with worry. “Please, we need your help. Liam… he’s… not holding himself together.”
“Aria, I know what he did was unforgivable. I’m not asking you to forgive him. But he… he eds someone who understands. Please, just come. You’re the only one who can reach
him.”
His words stirred something in me that even my newfound power couldn’t suppress. I knew I couldn’t just abandon him to darkness, not when he was suffering like this.
“Where are you? I’ll come,” I said, grabbing my cloak.
Marcus picked me up minutes later, his usual confident Beta demeanor shaken.
“Tell me everything,” I demanded, my voice carrying an authority that made Marcus’s wolf whine softly in response.
Sarah’s moon–passing ceremony had broken something in Liam. He’d shut himself away in the Alpha quarters, refusing all contact. His father, the current Alpha, was beside himself with worry.
Marcus had been checking on him daily, increasingly concerned. But yesterday, Liam had sealed his quarters with mountain ash – a clear sign he didn’t want any wolf near him.
“He’s in a dark place, Aria. He keeps muttering about how he betrayed his fated mate, broke sacred laws, failed everyone. I fear he’ll…” Marcus couldn’t finish the sentence.
I remained silent as Marcus drove us to the Alpha quarters. The mountain ash barrier around Liam’s quarters lay broken – not a good sign.
We found him sprawled on the floor, surrounded by empty bottles of wolf’s bane liquor, strong enough to poison a normal wolf.
“Liam? Alpha, it’s Marcus. Look who’s here!”
سام
Chapter 6
No response.
I knelt beside him, my heart clenching despite everything
“Liam? Liam, it’s me, Aria. Can you hear me?”
He remained motionless.
Marcus’s eyes widened in alarm. “Aria, he… he wouldn’t… The wolf’s bane concentration in
hese bottles…”
I shook my head, refusing to consider that possibility. I grabbed Liam’s arm, and suddenly, the ring flared with brilliant blue light. My voice emerged with a power that shook the room: “Liam! Rise, Alpha, or I swear by the Moon Goddess…”
His eyes snapped open, blazing Alpha red as he sat up abruptly, clutching his arm where I’d touched him – my fingers had left marks like moonlight on his skin.
“He’s alive!” I exclaimed, relief flooding through me even as I stared at the strange marks
my touch had left.
But before I could process what had happened, Liam pulled me into a crushing embrace,
burying his face in my neck where our mate mark should have been. “Aria? Aria, you came.
You still care,” he mumbled, his voice rough from disuse.
Marcus, relieved beyond measure, clasped Liam’s shoulder. “You scared the moon out of us, brother! Don’t ever pull something like this again!”
Liam ignored him, his grip on me tightening desperately. “Aria, you’re here. It must be a sign from the Goddess. We can repair our bond. We can start over.”
His words broke through my momentary weakness. I gently but firmly disentangled myself from his grasp, my voice steady. “Liam, what we had is gone. You made your choice.”
He stared at me, his red eyes filled with agony. “You… you don’t mean that. Why did you
come then?”
“I come here not because I still love you, Liam. Even though you shattered our sacred bond, I wouldn’t wish this darkness on any wolf.”
Chapter 6
The realization hit him like a physical blow. He slumped back against the wall, the brit of his despair filling the room.
I turned to leave, unable to bear the heavy weight of his pain any longer. “Liam, if anything remains of the wolf I once knew, please… don’t let your pack suffer for your mistakes. Don’t
let Sarah’s sacrifice be in vain. She chose to accept the curse’s consequences–honor that
choice.”
As I reached the door, I heard him whisper, “Aria… I love you. My wolf still recognizes you
bur true mate.”
I paused, my heart clenching at the raw agony in his voice. But I know what I truly was and
what I should do now.
