Sebastian offered to help carry the bag halfway up the stairs, but Madison refused. 

“What, do you think I’m weak?” she retorted.

Miranda came over and opened the door. She had already prepared slippers for both of them. 

Although the doctor said that the swelling in her injured leg had already subsided and she could technically start walking, he advised her to avoid walking too much in case she exerted too much pressure on her foot. 

So when the door opened, Sebastian and Madison saw Miranda hopping on one foot. She only set her injured foot down once she stood still, and she didn’t dare to put full weight on it. 

“Oh, Miranda! Be careful!” Madison rushed forward to support her. Sebastian followed suit and quickly held her other arm. 

Miranda was amused at their overly concerned reaction. “I just twisted my ankle, guys. I’m not handicapped-” 

“Knock on wood!” Madison Interrupted her immediately, “It’s bad luck to say such things! You’d better 

take it back!” 

They helped Miranda to the couch and sat her down. Madison nearly had a heart attack when she tried to get up and pour them some water. 

“Why are you still moving around with an injured leg?” she exclaimed. “We have hands and feet. If we want water, we can get it ourselves!” 

Sebastian wasn’t much of a talker, but he was a good stener and nodded in agreement. He agreed with whatever Madison said, nodding enthusiastically after her every sentence. 

“Miranda, why hasn’t your ankle healed yet? You’re already discharged from the hospital, and the doctor said there weren’t any issues, right?” 

“I can walk on it, but the doctor said it’s best to rest for a few more days. I’m just being cautious not to put full weight on it.” 

Then… what about these groceries?” Sebastian pointed to the shopping bags on the floor helplessly, not knowing where to begin. 

Miranda was happy to have them over when the two of them planned to visit back then, Since they arranged to meet at 3:00 pm, Miranda suggested that they stay for dinner before going home as it was. still early.

But now, Miranda’s foot hadn’t fully healed. Even Madison felt it was inappropriate to let an injured person cook for them, no matter how tempting the meal was. 

After a brief moment of silence, Madison suggested tentatively, “How about I make you guys a meal?” 

Sebastian’s expression immediately turned odd once she suggested that. “I think that’s not necessary.”
