Miranda quickly averted her eyes once she realized what it was. In the living room, Paul seemed to have remembered something. His body stiffened as he cursed silently.

“There’s nothing much to see inside. Let’s go back to the living room,” he

Miranda followed him back to the living room. Suddenly, she asked, “Why did you shower, wash your bedding, and clean so early in the morning?” 

Without much thought, Paul blurted out, “I didn’t shower, and I wasn’t cleaning. I was just washing the sheets and bedding.” 

Miranda gave him a strange look for a few seconds. She thought of the boxers lying in the corner, and her expression became slightly perplexed. 

Why did Paul change his underwear if he hadn’t showered? What exactly happened last night? 

Paul only realized what he had just said after a moment. His face flushed bright red when he met her gaze, all the way to the tip of his ears. 

For the first time, Miranda saw that it was possible for a man to be blushing crimson like a schoolgirl. In this state, he just looked… so easy to tease… 

Paul stammered through his explanation, “I thought… It’s been a while since I changed the sheets. I figured I’d wash them since the weather is nice today and hang them out to dry.” 

Whether Miranda believed him or not was another matter. 

She took their empty bowls to the kitchen. Miranda planned to wash them before taking them back home, but he beat her to it. “I’ll do it.” 

She didn’t argue and watched as he washed the dishes in the kitchen. Then, he went to the balcony and returned a few minutes later. His hands smelled faintly of soap. 

Well, his boxers were probably washed and hung up to dry. Just then, the washing machine finished its cycle. 

Paul took out the sheets and prepared to hang them. Miranda stepped forward to help. “I’ll help you.‘

He choked at her suggestion and quickly refused. He couldn’t help but feel embarrassed when he thought of the reason behind having to wash his sheets and imagining her touching them. 

“What’s wrong? It’s hard to hang them by yourself,” she said. 

“I can manage. You should rest on the couch for a while.” 

While Miranda was puzzled, she went to sit on the couch and watched silently as he hung the sheets on the balcony. 

His long arms made it easy for him to drape the sheets over the drying rack. After tidying up, the two left the apartment together. 

Paul had a meeting at the education ministry, so he offered to drop Miranda off at her lab on the way. “Mimi, shall I pick you up tonight?” 

“Sure.” 

Miranda turned and went inside, changing into her lab coat.
