Isabel was just as surprised when she saw that it was Richie.
She hadn’t expected to run into him so soon after they had just parted ways.
What a coincidence!
And to make it even crazier, they were both reaching for the same pack of candy.
While Isabel was surprised, Richie was feeling a storm of emotions inside.
He had always thought that Isabel reminded him of the little girl from his memories, and now he saw her reaching for the same pack of candy he was after.
This brand of candy was the very one Leslie had given him the first time they met.
Though he wasn’t particularly fond of sweets, he made a habit of eating one piece of this candy every day.
Each time he did, it felt like Leslie was still alive, still by his side, he just couldn’t see her.
“You-”
Isabel and Richie started speaking at the same time, only to stop and wait for the other to continue.
“Uh-”
“There’s only one bag left. How about we split it?” Isabel suggested with a smile.
“Sure.” Richie nodded.
After buying the candy, they stood outside the supermarket, taking turns dividing the pieces–one for her, one for him–until there was one piece left over.
Jsabel held out the last piece of candy to Richie. “You paid earlier, so this extra one is yours.”
“There’s no need. You-” Richie began, but before he could finish, Isabel had already placed the candy in his Hand, leaving him no room to argue.
The gesture sent another wave of emotions crashing through Richie’s heart.
For a brief moment, Richie felt as if he’d been transported back 20 years. The scene replayed vividly in his mind: the first time he met Leslie, she had done the exact same thing–placing a piece of candy firmly into his hand.
The memory made his chest tighten, and a dull ache rose in his nose.
He missed her…
But she was gone forever, and he would never see her again.
Buzz, buzz, buzz. The sound of a vibrating phone broke the silence.
Isabel pulled her phone from her pocket. The call was from Xander.
“What? You see me?” Isabel asked, glancing toward the road. Sure enough, the familiar Maybach came into view.
What are you doing here?” she asked, puzzled.
Xander narrowed his eyes, looking at Isabel and Richie standing together. His tone was calm but carried a hint of sarcasm. “What’s the matter? Did I interrupt your chat with this handsome guy?”
Chapter 209
Huh…
Not this again!
“Ahem.” Isabel cleared her throat. After ending the call, she looked up at Richie. “I’ll get going now. When are you free next week? I’ll come to your place to treat you.”
Richie snapped back to reality, his fingers curling slightly around the candy Isabel had given him.
“There’s no need to trouble yourself. I’m the one seeking treatment. It’s only right that I come to you. Where do you live? I’ll drive over.”
Go to my place?
Isabel imagined Richie, with his handsome face, showing up at the Bennett villa. She could already picture how dark Xander’s expression would be.
“No, no, it’s no trouble. I’ll come to you instead. My place isn’t convenient. There are other people around,” she said, just as the black Maybach pulled up.
Richie’s attention was immediately drawn to the sleek black car.
This car … It looks so much like the Bennetts‘…
“Xan…”
Richie’s mind suddenly echoed with the nickname Leslie used to say so often.
Whenever he heard her call out “Xan,” it would stir a deep, unexplainable sense of sadness within him, especially when he saw how close she was with that man.
Lost in his thoughts as he continued to stare, the rear window of the car rolled down, revealing Xander’s distinctive face.
It really was him!
“I’m leaving,” Isabel said, waving at Richie before heading toward the Maybach.
She opened the car door and got in.
They know each other!
Richie’s mind was a whirlwind of confusion and shock.
Isn’t this girl the sister of the I.Z. Corporation’s CEO? Isn’t she a student of the Miracle Healer? How could she know Xander?
What’s their relationship?
Richie quickly got his answer.
Through the still–rolled–up window, he saw Xander suddenly kiss Isabel on the corner of her lips.
So, that kind of relationship!
“Leslie…”
Richie thought back to when he was young, remembering how Leslie had given her beloved emerald guardian angel pendant to Xander and even asked him to marry her.
It was ironic.

Chapter 209
At that time, Leslie was young and naive, not fully understanding what it meant to love someone, it was just a child’s innocent affection. Even so, she had given her heart wholeheartedly.
Then, she passed away, leaving this world, while Xander moved on, forgetting her completely and being with
someone else.
It seemed that, in this world, only he still remembered Leslie.
Richie looked up at the sky. “Leslie, don’t be scared. I’ll be with you soon…”
In the car, Isabel, still dazed from the kiss, quickly pulled away from Xander once she regained her composure.
“What are you… doing?”
Isabel was caught off guard, as Xander suddenly acted without any warning.
Xander glanced out the window at Richie, then quickly looked away,
Isabel noticed his reaction and, with a sigh, realized what was going on. So, he was jealous.
“I swear, Mr. Bennett, how can anyone put up with you being this jealous? I’m just having a chat with a guy.”
Leo, who was driving, silently agreed with Isabel’s words.
