~Althea

Landon's reaction was instantaneous. One minute, he was standing there, completely fine, and the next he was launching himself at Kace, at just a few simple words.

I watched in horror as Landon pushed Kace down with his body weight, sending them both toppling to the ground. Kace sprawled unceremoniously onto the ground, with Landon not to far from him.

Landon jumped up, grabbing for Kace who rolled out of the way. Suddenly Kace was on his feet; being a smaller build then Landon meant he could move out of the way quickly. He took off at a fast pace run across the feild, trying to get some distance between him and the Alpha.

Landon staggered to his feet, looking around for Kace. His eyes were completely black now, his fists clenched by his sides. He was angry, and I knew what would happen if he got a hold of Kace.

Landon shifted straight into his Wolf, knowing that he would have immediate strength over Kace. Even if Kace was faster then him.

For a good five minutes I stood and watched the two Wolves run around the field; one being the chaser, and one being chased.

"Could you please tell your boyfriend to stop chasing me," Kace asked as he ran past me. He hadn't shifted, using his light weight, long legs and head start to keep a fair distance between him and Landon.

"He's not my boyfriend, he's my mate," I mutter under my breath as a response. Obviously he doesn't hear me, but I'm guessing Landon does; being in his Wolf form and all.

Step by step Landon is gaining on Kace, who seems to be tiring out. An Alpha's stamina is impossible to beat. I need to take action, unless I want Kace's blood on my hands, and Landon's paws if you will...Even if Kace is a sociopathic murderer.

"Landon stop," I shout across the feild. Jumping amongst the action would probably be a foolish idea, so I remain where I stand. Calling out Landon's name doesn't seem to be working out at all.

"Landon I swear to God, I'll-"

I pause. What would make Landon stop chasing Kace, and listen to me? I had to mention something...

"Cyrus would listen to me," I snap. I don't even have to say it very loudly. Landon hears me loud and clear. He skids to a stop, not too far away from me. He was hair strand away from catching Kace; in figurative terms.

In less than a second, he had turned from his Wolf form, and into the man in familiarised myself with. Completly naked and everything. He glowered at me, his eyes slowly melting back to that warm brown colour I knew so well.

Kace, noticing the absence of a blood thirsty beast from behind him, also came to a stop. Although, he made sure he was far enough away from Landon to eliminate some danger. At least he was clothed.

Making sure my gaze didn't stray, I remained a steady eye contact with Landon. "You're being unreasonable."

"Unreasonable? He wants to kill me," Landon growled. He shot a glare at Kace, who returned it. He has too much pride.

"Cover your junk man," Kace muttered sourly, referring to the naked Landon. Was he really testing the Alpha's patience now?

"Make me."

"Maybe I will."

"Fine."

"Good."

"I will you two shut up? This isn't the time," I snap, shutting up their bantering. I took a couple of wary steps towards Landon. "We aren't twelve years old you know..."

I grab Landon's hand between my own, getting his attention.

"Let's just get him to the prison. We can talk back at your estate," I tell him promptly. I'll feel a lot safer when we aren't out in the open. Even if Landon's father is possibly back there. It doesn't matter. "Just don't go killing him okay?"

Landon seems to like that idea. But Kace doesn't.

"No. I'm not going back there," he dismisses quickly. He takes an unsure step backward. He then looks at me, like I've betrayed him. "I'm not here to hurt you Althea. Don't you get that?"

He sounds hurt, and it makes me cringe.

"You killed someone Kace, we can't just let you go free," I explain in earnest. He shakes his head frantically, as Landon turns to approach him. But he doesn't make any move to run away again.

"Althea..." he breaks off, as Landon takes a hold of him. I can only imagine how hard he is trying not to snap Kace's neck. Honestly, I would feel the same way if he had threatened to kill me, and had already killed one of my Pack members.

Landon holds Kace's hands firmly behind his back, making sure he doesn't run. But it's obvious that isn't Kace's intention. He didn't want to run from me. He wanted to stay near me; that was why he didn't run further then the feild. He truly thinks he is indebted to me.

"It's either this, or continue and get mated to him," I exclaim. Knowing he will hate that even more then an encounter with Cyrus, I feel more confident. I give him a swift kiss on the cheek, and head off down the hallway, hoping no Guards will appear out of nowhere.

The walk from Landon's estate, to Cyrus's took a good forty five minutes. I vaguely remember him giving me his address. He loves a few streets from me, so I'm happy to avoid my own home.

I walk slowly down his street, looking out for number 35A printed on a letter box. It ends up being on the left side, the numbers printed on a tin letter box.

I wander curiously down the paved driveway, ignoring a neighbour of his, watering her garden. She eyes me suspicious, but doesn't say anything. Noticing the sky, it doesn't look as though she really needs to water her petunias; the clouds are heavy with the next shower.

Cyrus's house is exactly what I would have picture. Neat; like him. It was painted stark white, with a tidy deck outside and large windows. I jog up to the front door, hoping his parents aren't home. An encounter with his father would probably lead to some sort of awkward conversation.

I knock on the sturdy look, waiting for someone to answer. I had to knock three times, before I heard noise within the house, alerting me that someone was actually in there. Then the door swung open, and I came face to chest with Cyrus.

I blinked, at the half naked torso. Cyrus was only sporting a pair of unbuttoned jeans. He looked surprised to see me, his dark blue eyes widening.

"Althea? What are you doing here?" He asks quizzically. I frown.

"You said we would meet tonight. Remember?" I question. I wanted to slap him over the head, but he did it for me. He smacked his palm against his forehead, like he was just remembering the important detail.

"Shit Al, I'm sorry. I completely forgot," he mumbled.

"Occupied?" I ask. His face drains of all colour, leaving him unnaturally white. He shakes his head, rubbing the back of his neck. I noticed he does that when he's uneasy.

"Can we tall again tomorrow? I'm feeling a little sick, really need some slee-"

"Cyrus baby, come back to bed," I feminine voice said from inside the house. My heart dropped, and I think Cyrus's did too.

I pushed him by his shoulder, so I could see exactly who was standing there. And I couldn't believe who I saw...
