I storm off to the kitchen so I can grab my things and leave. I already knew Amelia wasn't far behind me. "Chloe, stop! Where are you going? Don't leave, that guy is still out there. It's not safe," she says, trying to convince me to stay. "I'd instead take my chances with a crazy stalker guy than someone that thinks he owns me," I declare, grabbing my keys from the counter. "Please stay, I'll take you to your room. I'm sorry I asked you to do the dare. I knew what was going to happen," she admits shamefully. "How did you know he would do that?" I ask curiously and wait for her answer.
"He’s an Alpha. It's in his blood. He won't let any man ever look at you in that way," she says, but it only confuses me more. "But why does he act like this with me?" I ask, finally manning up and demanding answers. “And why does he call me Luna? What does that even mean?" I ask, becoming frustrated. "Let's go to the room so we can talk, ok." She insists and by the look in her eyes I know she’s ready to drag me there if she has too. "Fine, I'll stay," I say, throwing my hands up in defeat.
We walked up the stairs to a room in the middle of the hall. Amelia opens the door, and motions for me to go first. Once we’re inside, she sits on the bed as if she’s gauging my reaction. “This will be your room for as long as you need. The pack members have their own homes so it's just Malachi that lives here,” she explains. "Will you and Paul stay here too, please?" I pleaded, not wanting to be in a house alone with Malachi. "Yeah, we can stay down the hall," she says with a reassuring smile.
I move to join her on the bed and turn my body so I can meet Amelia’s eyes. "So, please tell me what's going on with Malachi? Why does he call me Luna?" I ask. Amelia hesitates as if she’s debating whether she should be the one to tell me. "I want to tell you everything, but Malachi should tell you himself. I'll just let you know that he's never felt this way about anyone. Sure, he has been with other girls but just for sex, not what he feels with you," she explains, but it doesn’t make any sense. "I'm so confused," I mumble, rubbing my temples.
Amelia leans over and pulls me into a hug. "We will be right down the hall if you need us ok,” she assures me before walking to the door. I stand and follow her, reluctant to let her leave. “Goodnight!" she says as she opens the door. "Night!" I say, watching Amelia walk out the door, closing it behind her.
I'm now left standing in the room alone. I notice a door close by and find it’s a bathroom. I walk over to the tub and start to run hot water, adding some bubbles I found on the ledge. I begin to take my clothes off, starting with my shirt. Then I unclip my bra and let it fall to the floor. After taking my pants off I stand there in only my panties. I wait until the tub is full, then shut the water off, finally letting my panties fall to the floor and step in.
I lay in the tub for around 30 minutes, trying not to think of anything, but then Malachi invades my thoughts, and my body aches for his touch. I begin to wonder what would have happened if Amelia hadn’t come around the corner earlier? Would I have slept with him? I have never been with anyone, so that would be a big step to take. Pulling myself out of my thoughts, I pull the plug and let the water drain. I step out, grabbing the nearest towel to dry off with, then wrap it around me.
I pick up my clothes and am thankful none of them got wet. I didn't have a chance to grab spare clothes so, after folding them neatly, I set them on the dresser. I should have asked Amelia if she had something I could borrow to sleep in because I cannot sleep naked here. So, I grab the doorknob and turn it. Once I'm in the hall I close the door behind me and walk down it, holding my towel tightly around me. Taking in the handful of doors in the hallway, I soon realize I don't know which room Amelia is in, so I turn back to go to my room and freeze when I see Malachi standing there behind me.
I jumped in surprise at his sudden appearance and lost my towel in the process. It’s dark in the hall so hopefully he didn't see much but His eyes go wide with lust as his gaze travels up and down my body. I hurry to cover myself, grabbing my towel as fast I can and wrap it back around me. "What are you doing?" I demand with a glare. "I was going to my room, until I found you here almost naked in the hall. I guess I should be asking you the same question," he counters, narrowing his eyes at me. "I was trying to find Amelia. I need to borrow some clothes," I say desperately, wishing I could have avoided this situation all together.
"I have something you can wear, follow me," he says, walking past me. I quickly follow behind him to a room two doors down from mine. Malachi walks in, and I follow, standing awkwardly by the door while he looks through his closet. I take this opportunity to glance around the room and find the place is seductive; it matches his personality perfectly. When he comes out of his closet my eyes fall on him. "Here you go, a shirt, and some of my boxers, my shorts won't fit you. They would be too long," he laughs, and I quickly find myself laughing with him.
