Ella POV
“How does a creep like David Lake get two beautiful Alpha’s daughters to fall for him and screw it up with both of them?” Posted today at 9:15 AM.
“Ella Rowan deserves so much better.” Posted today at 9:23 AM.
“Has anyone heard from Amanda, or did she just drop off the face of the planet?” Posted today at 9:36 AM.
“Okay, but the question that nobody’s asking is who is: Ella going to date now? I have heard so many rumors, but who does she actually like?” Posted today at 9:40 AM.
I stared at my phone, scrolling through post after post about my failed relationship with David. Elizabeth had been right–it seemed that most people were on my side.
There were still a few posts supporting David. Mostly those people were saying it was no one else’s business what was going on in our relationship and that people should get a life.
The truth was, I agreed with that statement. I wished people would move on and find something better to do with their time. But since that was never going to happen, I had to do what I could to keep people on my side.
Luckily, it seemed to be working–so far.
After David’s visit to my parents‘ house to try to convince me to take him back, he had become… crazed. It was the only word that fit.
He was so angry at my rejection that any pretense of being the nice guy who was simply misunderstood, had falleri
away.
He began lashing out whenever anyone asked him about me–he couldn’t seem to help himself.
People would make posts like the dozen or so I’d already seen today, and if they tagged David, he would respond. His responses were increasingly angry, which I guessed was the reason people kept tagging him. They thought it was funny to get a reaction out of him.
I didn’t find it funny at all. I didn’t take any joy in watching David fall apart like this.
Getting out of my engagement with David was only one part of the plan. I had to follow through with the rest. I couldn’t risk any part of the original timeline coming true.
I had to protect not only myself, but my parents and the entire kingdom from ending up with David as king. I knew how dangerous he could be.
And Amanda… she was even more dangerous than I’d originally realized. I had to stop both of them. There was no other choice.
My mindless scrolling was interrupted by my phone beginning to ring. I smiled as the name Black Credit flashed
across my screen.
I was upstairs in my bedroom, where no one could overhear my conversation.

I had a meeting with my father later in the afternoon, but there was nothing scheduled for me before then. My parents were uncomfortable with me going out on my own ever since the attack in the capital, so I’d been staying home more.
It seemed like a good idea anyway, considering the rumors going around. I was certain that anywhere I went, I’d be watched, and people would likely take pictures or make posts about seeing me. I wanted to avoid that.
