Audrey recalled the look on Charles’ face when he warned her. She could feel the pain on her coccyx area intensifying.

"Also," Sophia walked up to her, tilted her head, and spoke into her ears, "Can you really not tell whether I am the one who’s pestering William or the other way around?"

"If my memory serves me right, you're only three years older than me, right? Having eye problems at such a young age isn’t a good thing. I recommend that you see an ophthalmologist in the hospital."

Audrey was huffing and puffing a lot faster than usual. "Don't be too c*cky, Sophia. You don’t know when Mr. Harris might just dump you!"

"You’re the one who shouldn’t be too c*cky." Sophia snorted and said in disdain, "I don’t know when Charles will dump me, but I do know that as long as I’m Charles’ girlfriend, I am capable of giving the Sommer family some trouble if you ever provoke me again.”

"Don’t you dare!" Audrey's voice sounded a tad sharp due to excessive elevation in her pitch.

Sophia glanced at her mildly, "You can try me and see whether I dare."

Having said that, she walked past Audrey to the side of the road, beckoned a cab, then got in the cab and left.

Audrey watched the cab disappear from her sight. Her face was as dark as ink. She stomped her feet on the ground furiously but ended up spraining her ankle because one of her high heels was broken.

She screamed in pain and squatted on the ground, taking off the intact heel and knocked it hard on the ground several times. After knocking off her heels, she put on her shoes again and walked towards the still-closed bar whilst gritting her teeth.

It was not compulsory for her to marry into the Jones family, though if William kept on pestering Sophia and embarrassed her in front of others, she would beg her parents to break off the marriage contract!

Worst comes to worst... She could just marry the playboy Sawyer from the Phillips family. That would still be better than marrying a hypocrite with a holier-than-thou attitude like William who was constantly thinking about another woman even after he was engaged!

It was almost dark at six in the evening. The villa’s surface area was huge yet not a single servant was seen. Sophia did not eat much at noon and was already feeling slightly hungry now.

Her first thought was to call for takeout. However, several restaurants in a row told her that they were not allowed to deliver takeouts to Bamboo Virtues Village—not even waiting at the gate of the community as the owner came out to get it.

Those who live in Bamboo Virtues Village were either rich or respectable. There was once a case in which someone disguised as a deliveryman attempted to enter Bamboo Virtues Village with a bomb.

Although the fake deliveryman was exposed at the gate, he still set off the bomb while he was emotionally unstable. The incident left one security guard dead and another critically injured. The news created quite a stir. Since then, no one was allowed to approach Bamboo Virtues Village unless those invited by the community owner or the community owners themselves.

Sophia had no choice but to give up on her plan to order takeout and went into the kitchen. There were fresh ingredients in the kitchen’s refrigerator, but she had never cooked before and knew how to cook instant noodles only.

She could not find any instant noodles after searching high and low for it, so she could only bite the bullet and take out a few eggs. Scrambled eggs were so easy to make, she figured she should be able to make it.

Unfortunately—

Crash!

This was the second egg that had fallen to the ground.

Sophia frowned. Fortunately, the third egg fell into the bowl safely. She blundered about and put five eggs into the stand mixer to mix them well. She then took out a wok according to a recipe she found on the phone and put some oil, yet was stumped when she was supposed to light the gas stove.

—Nothing on the recipe taught her how to light the gas stove.

Sophia rubbed her face irritably and some egg white got on her face.

At this moment, she heard the sound of brakes outside. Charles must have returned.

She pursed her lips, dumping the oil in the pot and the eggs in the mixer into the trash can in a neatly yet flustered manner, placing everything back to their original place. She then walked out the kitchen to go upstairs.

However, she still bumped into Charles in the living room.
