Tiffany wanted to say something else, but when her eyes met Sophia’s, there was a hint of restraint in her gaze. She swallowed what she wanted to say back into her stomach. She only grunted weirdly.
Megan did not do her eyeliner correctly, so she removed it and redid it. While she was doing it, she asked, “Sophia, have you eaten? If you haven’t, I’ll order more food.”
“I just want a bowl of porridge. Thanks.” Sophia found her locker and took out a clean uniform.
“Why did you ask her and not me?” Tiffany supported herself up with her right arm. She called out while lying on her side, “I haven’t eaten as well. Just order for me whatever you ordered. I’m not picky.”
“I don’t care. Get your own food. I don’t have extra money to buy for you.” Megan put on her lipstick and smacked her lips. Then, she took out a cotton bud to wipe away the extra lipstick.
Tiffany’s face was red from anger. She sat up and yelled, “Megan, we’ve known each other for years. You’re buying food for a murderer whom you’ve known for only less than a month but not me?”
When she heard the word ‘murderer’, Sophia stopped changing for a while before continuing to button her shirt.
“Whenever I buy food for Sophia, she’ll pay me back. If you pay me back the money you owe me, I’ll buy the food for you,” Megan said.
Tiffany cursed in a low voice. “You’re so stingy. You’re acting like I just have to eat your f*cking food.”
Sophia and Megan ignored her. Their food arrived shortly after, and they went to work once they were done eating.
“S-Sophia, there’s a woman at the door who’s looking for you,” her colleague walked over and said to Sophia while trembling. Before she could ask who it was, the colleague walked away. It seemed like she was afraid of Sophia since she was a murderer.
After Sophia placed her tools in the utility room, she walked to the entrance. Then, she realized the person who was looking for her was the doll-faced lawyer.
“I’m sorry I only came to see you now,” Clara’s face was red as she said in remorse.
Sophia did not know why she was looking for her. “Can I help you?”
“Let’s talk somewhere else.” Clara looked at the people who were passing by and pulled her out of Dream Club to find a quiet place.
“Um, I’m sorry.” Clara crossed her arms together. “I told my mentor and my dad about your case. However, my mentor did not want to get involved in this. I begged my dad for help, and in the end, he told me he can’t help me.”
“It’s fine. Thanks.” Sophia did not expect a stranger to be so concerned about her. She hesitated before thanking her earnestly.
Back then, when her family heard that she had offended Charles, they disowned her before even thinking of ways to help her.
Compared to Clara, her family members were so cruel.
When she saw this, Clara was worried. “Why are you not worried at all? I told you my dad is the new secretary for the municipal committee. If he can’t help you, no one can. Who did you offend?”
“Thank you for helping me.” Sophia bowed and said, “It’s better if you don’t get yourself involved in this. I don’t want to implicate you.”
However, she did not expect this lady’s father to be the secretary for the municipal committee. She also did not expect Charles to not give up even after the secretary for the municipal committee said something.
Clara did law to root out the strong and give people peace. She did not think her first case would be so challenging. She restrained herself for a long while and finally said with a red face, “I’m sorry.”
“You helped me a lot. I should thank you.” Sophia smiled.
“Don’t thank me. I didn’t do anything,” Clara said in defeat. “You should think about how to please the person you offended. If they do not give up, no one can help you.”
Sophia sent Clara away and went to take her tools from the utility room. However, what Clara said continued to linger in her brain.
