Lisa snorted. “I don’t have anything to say to you. I won’t change my words even if you pay me!”
“Don’t worry, paying you didn’t even come to mind,” Sophia replied.
Although Sophia said it so calmly with no hints of scolding or sarcasm, Lisa felt a lump in her throat as her face reddened. However, she was unable to give a comeback.
“I’m standing right in front of a flight of steps. It’s a bit unnerving for me and the baby, do you guys mind if we switch a spot to talk?” Before the reporters could answer, Sophia pulled Nicole away. They then made their way out of the stairwell together.
Lisa pointed at the two of them and shouted, “They’re trying to get away!”
The reporters immediately ran after the two of them and crowded around Sophia and Lisa.
Sophia looked at them coldly and said nothing. Then, she turned to Lisa. “Do you mind repeating to me all the crimes White family committed in the past? There’s too many of them, I don’t think I can remember all of it.”
“I’m a relative of the White family. When Aunt Jenny and Uncle James found out that I was looking for a job, they offered me a job as a maid for the family. Thinking that they were nice people, I took up their offer.
“But the moment I got to the White family, the couple suddenly turned into completely different people. I worked my tail off every single day, yet they still criticized every little thing that I did and even accused me of slacking! There’s your brother too, who’s just an uncivilized playboy. He took notice of my looks and tried to rape me, but fortunately, I struggled hard enough to protect my innocence!”
Nicole was completely stunned by how shameless Lisa was upon hearing her words. Nicole was just about to speak when Sophia stopped her.
Thinking that Sophia was backing down, Lisa pushed on. “You, on the other hand, were always lashing out at me whenever you were in a bad mood! You made me kneel on the ground and forced me to eat food off the ground. You didn’t even treat me like a human being!”
She turned to the reporters and heaved a heavy sigh. “Look at how these people treat a blood relative. Do you think they’re actually capable of being nice to other people? That’s impossible! The White family is just a bunch of cold-blooded brutes!”
Clap, clap, clap.
Once Lisa finished talking, Sophia applauded.
Everyone around her, including Nicole, was dumbfounded.
What was she doing?
“Lisa, you’re a waste of talent if you don’t become a screenwriter.” Sophia sneered.
Lisa frowned and replied loudly, “I will never be as good as you when it comes to snarky responses, so I won’t fight you for that role! Everybody, I can assure you that everything I’ve said is real. If I lied about anything at all, I vow to be struck by lightning and get hit by a car on the road!”
“Alright, even if we treat your words as the truth, let me ask you something, then. If you really are a relative on my father’s side, how is my mother your maternal aunt? I would understand if she’s your cousin sister-in-law or perhaps aunty-in-law, but how is she your maternal aunt?”
Lisa was silent.
Sophia gave a light laugh and continued. “I can answer this for you. It’s because your parents are just my father’s neighbors from back home and they don’t even speak on a usual basis. Even if we extend to three or four generations to look at it, you’re still nowhere near our family tree.”
“You’re lying!” Flustered, Lisa defended herself strongly. “Why would your parents hire me as a housemaid if I wasn’t a relative?”
Sophia replied easily, “Your family doesn’t have a good reputation and you’re always going around spreading rumors. My mother was worried that your family would hurl mud at us, so we agreed to take you in.”
Then, she turned to the reporters. “If you don’t believe me, you can visit Lisa’s hometown and ask around about her family.”
“Even… Even if we’re not blood relatives, what about your brother trying to rape me and the abuse I suffered for so many years… You still can’t change the fact that your family physically and mentally abused the help!” Lisa had not expected Sophia to find a slip from her side. Due to her panicking, her words came out in stutters.
The reporters looked at Sophia intently. Even if she did not answer their other questions, this was already enough for them to write an article.
