“Even that woman of yours has her own cadre of bodyguards, so what’s wrong with us having our own?” Shawn had not expected Sawyer to be such a sissy, and he was getting impatient.

Sawyer, on the other hand, was in no hurry. He merely stood beside him, waiting to see Charles’ reaction.

He was not here just to settle things with Sophia this time, he wanted to probe out the Harris family as well.

Word in the street now was that the Harris family had been reportedly involved in human experiments and was about to collapse any time soon, but nobody could verify how true this piece of news was.

His plan was to make a move on Sophia this time, and if nobody from the Harris family stepped forward to do something about it, it meant that the rumors were likely to be true. That meant the Philips family could start preparing to enter the market that the Harris family initially owned, and carve out their major clients with the other companies.

Charles merely cast Shawn a brief glance and replied, “Seeing that the Johnson family did try to help, I can let what you just said slip by.”

“Why? Why do you have to let it slip? You just don’t dare to bring it up against me, do you?” Shawn stood up and swept everything on the table to the floor.

Charles’ face darkened as he stared at the mess on the ground.

However, Shawn was not frightened at all. “What’s with that face, why are you being so pretentious? The people outside your house right now are watching you! Have you forgotten that you’re just temporarily released from prison…”

Bang!

Charles kicked him to the ground.

Perhaps on purpose, Shawn fell onto the broken shards on the floor from earlier. Some of the shards penetrated his body, and he broke into a cold sweat and began trembling from the pain.

“Watch your mouth, I don’t appreciate this type of language in my home.” Charles retracted his leg and sat back on the sofa.

Hearing the commotion downstairs, Sophia got worried and hurried down. Seeing that he was safe and sound sitting on the sofa, she immediately let out a breath of relief and walked toward him.

“It’s quite noisy here, you should go upstairs and rest.” Charles’ expression relaxed a little when he saw her, and he took her hand as he carefully kicked aside the mess on the floor.

Sophia glanced at the dozen people armed with knives and sticks and smiled. “It’s still early, I won’t be able to sleep anyway. Don’t worry, I’ll just stick around for a bit.”

As they talked, Sawyer and a few of the thugs quickly helped Shawn up.

There were several cuts all over Shawn’s body and they were bleeding a lot. He glared at Charles and snarled, “Do you think the Harris family can go back to normal after being accused of being involved with human experiments? It’s not going to take long before the Harris Corporation will be done for!”

“I don’t know what’s going to happen in the future but right now, I know I’m capable of making you disappear right before my eyes.” Charles signaled his bodyguards and two of them immediately stepped forward. They stood on Shawn’s sides and grabbed him by the arms, ready to throw him out.

Sawyer waved his hand and a dozen men rushed forward to surround them.

It might be more comforting if these men were regular, proper bodyguards as they would at least know their limits, but from the looks of the tattoos on their arms and the colorful hairdos, they were mere street gangsters.

It was common knowledge that these people lacked basic fighting skills as they fought blindly, so they were not much of a problem at all. Even so, they were unaware of their limits so if they got caught in the moment, someone might get severely injured, or even die.

Charles frowned as he quickly pulled Sophia into his arms protectively.

He should have insisted on her going upstairs. If a fight were to break out and she accidentally got hurt, his heart would hurt even more!

“Mr. Harris, Mr. Johnson isn’t just talking big, I believe the Harris Corporation is indeed in a tough spot at the moment. Once the news of the company being involved in human experiments gets leaked to the press, the Johnson family might have the upper-hand against the Harris family so I think you better behave yourself with Mr. Johnson.”
