The thugs did not want to aggravate him, and the sight of the strong, burly bodyguards standing aside scared them, and so they quickly backed away upon hearing this.
“I’ll head upstairs first then.”
“Alright.”
Sophia looked at Charles for a little while longer before going upstairs.
She knew well that if she insisted on staying here, she would only drag him down.
Seeing her leave, the bodyguards trailed behind as well.
“I asked her to go but did I give you orders to follow her?” Charles immediately called after them.
“Sorry, Mr. Harris,” the leader of the bodyguards apologized and went to stand beside Charles.
Charles finally let go of Sawyer’s hand and reached for a tissue from the table, which he used to wipe his hands slowly. “It’s not early anymore, I would like to have a good rest. Please take your men and leave right now.”
Seeing that Charles’ attention was divided now, Sawyer helped the injured Shawn to the corner of the room right behind the thugs and waved to them. “Get him!”
“Wait a minute.” Charles raised his hand and stopped them.
Sawyer snorted. “Are you scared now? Well, I’m not a petty person so if you kneel down and kowtow to me, maybe say ‘uncle’ along with it, I’ll ask them to stand down. What do you think?”
To think that he used to think Charles Harris was such a powerful man when he was just an arrogant b*stard who was so pompous because of his family name!
The elders at home had exaggerated his ability!
Charles merely ignored him as his expression darkened. He rolled his sleeves up, showcasing his beautifully sculpted forearms, then proceeded to retie his robe.
“Mr. Harris, have you made up your mind?” Sawyer thought back of all the times he had suffered grievances before Charles and sneered hatefully.
He was going to avenge all those moments once and for all!
Charles looked up at him and twiddled his belt, and just as Sawyer was about to shout again, a kick landed on the thug’s chest who was standing at the front.
“If that’s the case, we won’t hold back anymore! All of you, go!” The one thing Sawyer loathed most about Charles was his unperturbed demeanor. It gave him the impression that Charles was not taking him seriously.
Charles’ expression remained unchanged as he fought the lot one after another. Being amateur fighters, the thugs only knew how to swing their weapons at bodies.
Charles, on the other hand, had learned Muay Thai, Taekwondo, and Karate according to the system. Every punch and every kick that he made was targeted at the weakest spot of the human body.
Not long after, a dozen men laid crumpled on the ground whereas the remaining ones standing aside exchanged nervous glances with each other, none of them willing to attack anymore.
Sawyer was livid.
“Nobody else?” Charles swept his gaze across the room at the thugs as he clapped his hands. Seeing that each of them was taking small steps backward, he looked away.
He adjusted the belt around his waist that had loosened slightly as he spoke casually, “Alright then. Mr. Phillips, Mr. Johnson, do you mind leaving now?”
Sawyer had a few of the men help Shawn and he walked toward Charles.
“Mr. Harris, don’t blame me for being blunt but it’s about time you realize that things are going to change. Now that the Harris family is allegedly involved with human experiments, let’s not even talk about whether things would go back to normal as before, it would be a miracle if your company doesn’t go bankrupt. Once the Harris family is finished, what good will your fighting skills be?”
At this point, Sawyer laughed out humorlessly as he continued, “Actually, it won’t be completely useless, you can become a muscleman yourself.”
He inched closer to Charles. “Why don’t you consider being mine? I can double your pay too!”
