Chapter 41 He Just Doesn't Care About Her

She had chased after him for so many years. As long as he did not chase her away, she would be ecstatic.

She simply thought that he was cold and did not know how to treat people well. She thought that as long as she was good to him, then it would be fine.

She did not expect that… She found out today that he was not cold, he just did not care about her.

Leah looked at the food on her plate. There was an obvious surprise in her eyes. “Thank you, Charles.”

“Do you like this?” Charles put down the chopsticks and picked up his own. “I’ll ask the waiter to send more here.”

Leah’s eyes lit up as she nodded with a faint blush on her cheeks.

Sophia stood in front of the table with her head lowered. She could feel the jealousy filling her chest. She felt like insects were gnawing her heart. She could feel her heart throbbing in pain.

“Hello, Mr. Harris, Miss Jones.” Megan’s eyes lit up when she saw Charles and Leah. She greeted them in a reserved manner.

Sophia forced out a smile. However, the smile did not reach her eyes. “Sorry to disturb you guys.”

“I was worried that you won’t come over because you’re ashamed.” Leah sighed helplessly. Then, she smiled gently. “It’s fine now that you’re here. Sit down.”

“Thank you, Miss Jones.” Megan smiled and thanked. She pulled Sophia to sit on one of the empty chairs. When everyone was not paying attention, she asked quietly, “Why did Miss Leah say you’d be ashamed to come over?”

Sophia’s body tensed up. She did not say anything for a long while.

“It’s nothing. She crashed her car into me and broke my leg.” Leah’s voice was soft. She said in an apologizing tone, “We’re too close. I’m sorry for eavesdropping.”

“It’s fine. It’s fine.” Megan waved her hand and smiled timidly. She felt awkward and shocked.

So, the person who Sophia attempted to murder was the young mistress of the Whites!

“You don’t have to be embarrassed. You’re not the one who ran the car over me.” Leah smiled and said in a disappointing voice, “Plus, I never blamed Sophia. I just feel sad because I’ll never be able to dance again.”

“Were you a dancer?” Megan asked in surprise.

William looked at Leah. There was darkness in his eyes. “Ballet world champion.”

If Leah had not approached Sophia for him, this would not have happened.

“She was the world champion?” Megan covered her mouth. “How unfortunate. If I were you, Miss Jones, I will never forgive the person who broke my leg.”

After she finished saying that, she realized what she just said and chuckled timidly. She tilted her head to look at Sophia. “You didn’t do it on purpose, right?”

“It doesn’t matter if it’s on purpose or not. Leah will never be able to dance anyway.” William’s face fell.

No one said anything. The atmosphere was extremely awkward.

Charles was the only one who was still eating. His movements were elegant and poised. He was not affected by them at all.

“Alright, I’ve already said that I don’t blame Sophia.” Leah forced out a smile on her face. “It doesn’t matter if I can’t dance anymore. Stop dwelling on this depressing topic.”

Megan looked at Leah’s pretty features. She truly felt pitiful for the kind and generous Miss Jones.

“Aren’t you the one who keeps on talking about this topic?” Charles placed his chopsticks down and leaned backward to his seat. He looked at Leah with a fake smile on his face.

Leah lowered her head and said after biting her lip, “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t bring this up.”

‘Was Charles standing up for Sophia?’

She looked at her paralyzed right leg. She felt wronged and sad.
