Sophia looked into his eyes and nodded. “I don’t care if you believe me or not, but this is the truth.”
“You’ve been incarcerated for two years and you’re still the same as before. You’re so used to lying!” William chuckled coldly. It was unknown if he was jealous or angry.
Even if she was in such dire straits as right now, she was still chasing after Charles. She never once looked at him.
“Whatever,” Sophia said after a while.
It would be useless for her to say anything more to someone who refused to believe her.
She turned around to walk to the restroom.
“Sophia!” William grabbed her and pinned her against the wall. He said furiously, “It’s enough that you broke Leah’s leg, thus leading to her unable to dance forever, and now you still want to steal her boyfriend? Did a dog eat your conscience?”
The two of them were standing very close to each other. It was so close they could see each other’s facial hair.
He lowered his head to look at her. When his eyes landed on the scar on her face, he could feel a pang of pain in his heart. It was as if it had been stung by a needle.
She had always been carefree and ignorant, however, just like other girls, she cared about her face. Now, she had such an obvious scar on her face.
“You’re right. I am seducing Mr. Harris.” Sophia placed her hands on his chest and said sarcastically in his ear, “However, you’re wrong. The dog did not eat my conscience, it ate somebody else’s.”
The faint heat from her breath lingered in his ear. There was an unspeakable romantic tension between them. William was stunned, then she pushed him away.
Sophia ran her fingers through her fringe to cover her scar. When she turned around, she saw Charles standing in a distance.
He was not wearing his suit jacket and had his white shirt buttoned all the way up. He looked like someone who was emotionally constipated. However, at the same time, he looked unapproachable.
Sophia did not know how long he had been standing there. She did not know what he saw nor heard. She felt uneasy all of a sudden, she wanted to explain herself, “Mr…”
In the next second, Charles walked past her. He did not even look at her before entering the male toilet.
He did not ignore her because he was mad at her, but instead, he was treating her like she was invisible.
He loved Leah, and she was just a bug he hated for hurting the person he loved.
She tried to please him. She would be lucky if she could escape from his revenge. How would she dream of anything else?
“Do you like Charles that much?” William looked at her with a complex look on his face. It was as if all the emotions were running amok in his heart. He did not know what he was feeling. “Do you still like him and want to be with him even if he broke your leg and sent you to prison?”
“It’s none of your business who I like, Mr. Jones. Or perhaps you’re jealous because you like me?” Sophia asked flatly.
Her words hurt William and his face fell. “I don’t have a girlfriend and even if I do, I will never like a person who attempted to kill my sister.”
“That’s good.” Sophia turned around and walked into the restroom.
William stood where he was and his expression changed. In the end, he washed his face and walked back.
When Sophia went back, Charles and Wiliam were on their seats. She glanced at Charles and went back to her seat.
