Waverly could hear nasty exchanges around her, and she instantly regretted her outfit. She could feel the bad intentions that the men around her harbored. She did not understand why Wyatt wanted to bring her to a gathering like this. However, his greeting also gave her a glimmer of hope. She took a big step forward, but there was clearly no space for her to stand next to him.
In her fit of nerves, Wyatt pulled her onto his lap, like the man opposite him who was playing cards with a woman in his arms. However, the man's hand was clearly in the woman's skirt, not that the woman cared. She was even smiling from ear to ear.
"I'm down on my luck today. Come help me play a few hands!”
As soon as Wyatt said that, Waverly felt protected and secured with his arms around her waist. Although she was still a little confused, she felt much more relieved than she did before.
"I don't really know how to play..."
Wyatt bit down on her ear and said softly, "Don't be scared! It's all yours if you win. But if you lose, it's on me!"
He had originally invited her over to have a meetup with friends, but he didn't expect that Mr. Andrews would show up. He was completely caught by surprise.
Since Waverly wasn't just anybody, Wyatt was determined to protect her from the mouths of those who wanted to engulf her.
As expected, his one gesture sent shock waves through everyone. Even the woman next to him hadn't even touched his elbow. Everyone knew that he would never get too close to a woman, yet this lady was brought to his lap, was sitting in his arms, and even exchanged glances with him as soon as she entered the room. The two men's eyes were tinged with intrigue
"Wyatt, could we keep things PG-13? I'm not an adult yet!"
The handsome man opened his mouth and pretended to cover his eyes with his hand. On the other side, a man raised his hand and pushed him away.
"D*mn!"
At the same time, he waved his hand.
"Hey, I don't mind. I’m 18, so feel free to continue. It would be great if you could get us acquainted too!"
As soon as she heard what the men said, Waverly's face blushed crimson and she didn’ t know where to look. The quiet atmosphere turned lively again.
Without mentioning Waverly’s identity, Wyatt said, "Are you still playing? Mr. Andrews is waiting!"
The man then picked up a card and threw it onto the table. After a round, Mr. Andrews won.
As Black Jack was a fast-paced game, a few rounds had passed. Occasionally, Waverly would help Wyatt pick out a few cards. Soon, Wyatt began winning. After a while of playing, Wyatt suddenly felt his body tense up. With a voluptuous, sensual-smelling woman sitting against him like this, how could he remain as still as a lotus?
Although she was soft and weighed a feather, once she was seated on his lap, her height was elevated and she was taller than Wyatt. No matter how she twisted or stretched her body, her every move made her body curve very attractively. What drove Wyatt closer to the edge was that the moment he raised his head, he would be in contact with her privates. This, coupled with the captivating fragrance of this woman, Wyatt felt like he was close to losing his mind.
Just as he was about to stop her from moving yet again, he saw Mr. Andrews pushing the cards back. "I've lost again!"
"Would you happen to know who she is? How would you I ike to bet?"
Waverly quickly turned around and was about to make a move when she felt Wyatt holding her down. He lowered his head, gave a few pats on her leg and sent her a knowing gaze to let her know to stay calm!
"I don't care, as long as you're willing to give her up! Whoever wins first will be the final winner. If you win, I will take care of what you asked of me. If I win, she will be mine tonight!”
With a flick of his finger, Wyatt's face darkened.
With a glance, the two men could faintly sense anger emanating from him. "My business is not nearly as important as my woman. I'm afraid I may have to rain on your parade!"
He pushed Waverly aside then stood up. The atmosphere immediately turned cold, as if a stream of cold air had just breezed through the place.
The man followed suit and stood up as well, before taking out a brocade box. "What if I have this added to the stakes?"
When Waverly turned around, she saw a large red brocade box being placed on the table. Inside it was a weighty- looking crystal patterned in a pale shade of yellow. It shone under the lamp, looking attractively radiant. Its stone base carried with it a kind of natural beauty, and on it stood a beautiful girl with outstretched arms, as if she were dancing. Her clothes and eyebrows were lined with jewels, making her look vivid and life- like. Even though the carving was exquisitely done, small drillings were made which may have indicated its inferiority in value.
At least that was what Waverly thought of it. Suddenly, she felt the grip on her waist tighten in an instant before the firmness slowly faded away-
