Blinking pitifully, Alicia mumbled, "Hubby, my throat hurts. Ahem..." Her lips hurt too!

Almost at the same time, Frederick's emotions subsided and he touched her forehead. "Are you burning up again? I'll get you some honey water!"

Getting up, he went to take some pills before making honey water.

Looking at him hustling around, Alicia's heart warmed up. He had actually cared about her, although it may be 'lesser' than she desired!

She did not know if she went soft because of the sickness, but she no longer felt angry at all!

Frederick fed her the medicine before taking her temperature, his arms around her. "That's more like it! Your fever is better now. Get some more sleep and get well quickly!"

He preferred her to be full of vigor and not sickly.

"Okay!"

Nodding, she blinked and took his arm. "Hubby, you won't leave me, right? What would I do if I missed dinner because of sleep and there's nothing to eat?"

Frederick saw that she was even acting coquettishly at the moment. He was mesmerized by her and spoke with the softest voice, "I won't go anywhere today! I'll just stay by you. Sleep all you want, I won't let you go hungry!"

She blinked her eyes again and for no reason, she felt really weary. She closed her eyes with a beautiful smile on her face.

Sitting by the bed, Frederick was full of satisfaction.

Turning on his phone, Frederick saw a huge number of missed calls and his eyebrows knitted together. "What's Danica's problem? Why did she have to call me so many times over a gathering?"

After looking through his phone, he eventually set it aside.

He was not a man to be fussing over such matters in romance; he was tired of inconsiderate women who pestered him. He especially disliked this behavior when he had explained that he had work and was busy!

He was afraid that she would cling to him and complicate things. This would affect his relationship with Alicia.

He did not return Danica's calls.

Looking through his messages, he saw that Chet sent over a news headline.

The article was about Thomas, the drunkard from the detention cell with photos attached. To sum it up, he got into a fight with someone at a roadside barbecue joint. He was terribly beaten up and even burnt with a hot iron. The point was that his groin was scalded with hot water, and was handicapped currently!

There was also some information on his background. Apparently, he got to his position through some connections. The job was not lucrative and more of a nominal post, and it was not an official position.

He was still single at his age because he had been hurt by a woman before. He harassed women who were arrested, especially those with heavy charges. However, because no one reported him and his offenses were not too serious, therefore he always got off the hook.

This time, he did what he did because someone upset him the day before and he had too much to drink, causing him to act impulsively.

Frederick did not care what excuses the man had. He had to pay the price if he hurt someone dear to him; he was no savior! He looked briefly at the photos and the outcome; he was satisfied with how he was dealt with. He replied to Chet with an "Okay".

He then opened his email and dealt with a few. When he came back to his senses, it was already dark outside.

Someone who had slept the whole day also got up without him waking her.

Alicia rubbed her eyes. She was glowing, her high spirits evident. She even remembered to apply the ointment on her face.

Watching her charming appearance, Frederick felt delighted from the bottom of his heart.

That night, the two of them ordered takeaway. At the table, Alicia ate hungrily using both her cutlery and hands. Frederick gave her sideways glances as he forked a dumpling. Nevertheless, he also had a good appetite looking at her.

It was an ordinary meal but it was undoubtedly a hearty one.
