Looking at the time, it was already half- past five. "What's wrong with her? Haven't I already explained it to her? Why are we visiting Grandma? Why did she choose this time to visit her?” Frederick thought.

While packing things, Frederick tried to call Danica again. "Sorry, the number you have dialed is currently unavailable. Please try again later..."

After making two calls in a row, no one answered. Frederick looked back at Danica's message and found out that it was sent an hour ago.

Could it be that she was already on her way?

Suddenly, Frederick started to feel anxious, his brows snapping together. "What is she thinking? Grandma will only get pissed when she sees her!" Frederick thought.

Just before he was about to head out, the landline on the table rang again. He had no choice but to take care of the incoming job.

After the slight delay, it was already twenty minutes later when he ended the call.

Just when Frederick was about to make another call to Danica, she called him first. He immediately answered her call.

"Don't you dare go!" Frederick said in an anxious tone.

"You tried calling me just to inform me this?"

Frederick could feel her pain from her soft voice. At first, he was shocked but moments later, he softened his voice. "Danica, it's getting late now. I thought I have made it clear with you."

Apparently, Frederick was implying to Danica not to visit Mrs. Clements!

After all, it was his grandma that Danica was seeing. Danica's current identity would cause awkwardness for sure. Plus, Frederick was afraid that his words would be too hurtful.

"Why are you doing this to me, Frederick? You promised me to visit Grandma together."

From Danica's voice, he could hear that she was about to cry.

He closed his eyes before he started to speak.

"Danica, I'm sorry. I didn't know what I wanted before this. I thought I still had feelings for you..." But that was already six years ago!

However, after so many years, things have changed. Just like getting old, it was inevitable.

"Stop! I know I'm getting uglier. I know that you don't like me anymore. I also know that you have found a new lover! I know that you don't want me anymore!"

Danica's thrilling voice buzzed Frederick's eardrum but he refused to explain or defend himself. He hoped that Danica could accept the reality that their path had already parted ways, no matter what the reason was.

"Why... why are you abandoning me too?" Danica asked.

Frederick felt guilty listening to all of her grouches. Even so, he knew that it was only a matter of time for him to choose between her and Alicia.

Frederick didn't speak. He was waiting for Danica to stop whining. Moments later, she stopped. Instead of an agitated voice, she started to talk in a soft manner.

"I know that we've been apart for a while now and you might have gotten used to living without me. But, you are just lost! Just like before, now you just don't know what you want anymore. Don't worry, I'm not mad at you, I will wait for you. Eventually, you'll understand that my feelings for you are real. Soon, you'll know that I am the one you love more..."

Danica knew Frederick well. Even though he always seemed indifferent and unemotional, he cared most about the people around him. He was more sentimental than anyone could be. After spending so many years with him, Danica always felt that she had a place in his heart and she was irreplaceable even though it had been six years.
