Reaching out, Nicholas tried to pull her up, but she was simply too emotionally overwhelmed. Instead, Caroline raised her hand and swung it at him.

"B*stard! B*stard! When did I ever offend you? It's fine if you chose not to save me, but why did you still tell them to kill me? Trevor, Trevor, I must tell Trevor about this..." Caroline choked on her words in between her sniffles.

"Ah, it's blood. It hurts. Am I really going to die? It's all your fault that I'm..."

Caroline cried out loud.

Caroline continuously wiped her tears and touched her neck. Just as she saw the blood on her hands, she uncontrollably burst into tears once again. She was like a grumpy child that sat on the ground, throwing her tantrum and grouchily kicking Nicholas. Moreover, one of her feet was missing a shoe too! At that point, she was in a mess!

Although Nicholas had never met someone so ungrateful, he subconsciously stood up and looked around before he picked up a black leather shoe that was weaved with some suede from a corner.

Squatting down, he placed the shoe beside her feet. Right then, Nicholas was utterly irritated by her wails. He had seen many women cried before, but never a woman who cried like a banshee. Caroline was indeed one of a kind!

Nicholas glanced at her and said impatiently, "Are you done crying? If you still plan to sit here all day and attract unwanted attentions, then I won't be..." Nicholas didn't want to stay any longer if she kept it up.

Before he could finish his sentence, Caroline suddenly paused and her tears stopped rolling out of the corners of her eyes in an instant. She picked up the shoe and promptly slipped it on.

With a single glance, Nicholas was deeply shocked by her immaculate face, it was as clear as a crystal. What an unblemished lady!

Nicholas and Caroline both stood up at the same time. She wasn't certain whether her feet were sore or numb, but she stumbled and felt confused just as she got up. Raising his hand, Nicholas helped her up with a smile on his face.

It turned out that Caroline was easily coaxed, she instantly stopped crying once she was frightened by his words!

Right then, Nicholas was dazed for a moment.

Caroline whimpered as she scurried to one side to retrieve her bag and her belongings that fell out of it. Shortly, she quickly ran back to his side. Her eyes were brimming with tears while she stared at him with a pitiful look on her face, like a little pug begging for its master to take her away.

As he spoke again, Nicholas softened his tone and said, "Everything's fine now, so you better hurry up and go home! A place like this isn't suitable for you, never come back here again!"

Judging by her appearance, she seemed to not know much about the world.

Nicholas turned around and dusted the suit he had worn while he slowly walked towards the entrance of the Heaven Star Clubhouse.

Caroline who stood behind him had remained still for two whole seconds. She glanced around the empty street from the corner of her eyes before she lifted her feet and chased after him.

After he took a few steps forward, Nicholas came to realize that Caroline was tailing him. He immediately halted and turned around while he stared at her.

Caroline came to a stop at the same time as Nicholas did. She turned around before looking back at him with a pitiful demeanor. With her bag in her hands, she instinctively wrapped her arms in front of her body. Her hair and clothes were slightly messy, but her face was as clear as day. With a pair of big red eyes, she seemed exactly like a frightened bunny.

At first, Nicholas kept quiet as he thought that she was merely passing by. Thus, he turned around and continued to move on.

Smacking her lips, Caroline paused for a while before she tailed him again.

Just as he arrived in front of the Heaven Star Clubhouse's entrance, he realized that Caroline was still following him from behind. Nicholas finally stopped and said, "Why are you still following me?"

Pursing her lips, Caroline's eyes unwittingly swept around the dark and empty streets. There was nothing else besides cars and some pedestrians.

"Who's following you? I'm... I'm simply looking for my brother!"

Besides, she dared not to go home alone!

Her mind was filled with scenes of a woman who was stopped on the road by random strangers. As her heart thumped wildly, Caroline did not want to drive home alone! Deep down, she felt that Nicholas wasn't a bad person, so she made up her mind and chose not to leave his side until she found her brother!
