Chapter 246 Suffer A Double Loss
[I have an appointment with a friend tonight. Let’s meet another day.] David frowned as he looked at the message on his phone.
The atmosphere around him suddenly darkened. The temperature in the entire meeting room seemed to have dropped to zero, and it was cold.
The executive standing on the stage in the middle of a presentation unconsciously thought he had made a mistake and began to stutter and repeat himself, even shaking uncontrollably.
At the end of the presentation, he took a deep breath as if he had survived a calamity, only to find the man sitting at the head of the table unmoved.
He could not help but look at Eddie. The pleading look in his eyes was hard to ignore.
Eddie sighed softly. Sure enough, it couldn’t be done without him.
“Sir?” he called cautiously.
David put away his phone and glanced at him.
A trace of coldness flashed across the man’s eyes, making Eddie shiver.
Eddie suppressed the panic in his heart and said calmly, “Sir, the presentation from the marketing department is over.”
“Okay,” David replied, “The meeting is over.”
Everyone secretly heaved a sigh of relief.
Back in the office, David called Rachel. “What time do you finish tonight? Shall I pick you up?”
“No need,” Rachel said.
She knew Mary’s personality very well. She would not stop until she was drunk tonight!
She didn’t know when it would be over.
“I have something to do later. I have to go.”
After hanging up, Rachel turned to look at the cafe.
Unsurprisingly, she saw the Smith family’s car in the parking lot.
A meaningful smile appeared at the corners of her mouth.
She did not expect the Smith family people to arrive early. It seemed that they had waited for a long time.
“Miss Grey.” Mr. Smith stood up with a gentle smile on his face. “The
password is six zeros.”
Rachel sat in the chair and looked at Mr. Smith and Mrs. Smith for a moment. “Where’s the transfer letter?”
“Here!” Mrs. Smith hurriedly took out the item. “It will take effect as long as you sign it.”
Rachel took it and looked at it. After making sure there was nothing wrong with it, she took the pen and signed it.
The moment they saw her sign, Mrs. Smith and Mr. Smith looked at each other and heaved a sigh of relief.
“Miss Grey, we’ve done what you asked. Can you withdraw the lawsuit now?” Mr. Smith asked carefully.
Rachel looked up and there was a trace of coldness in her exquisite eyes. “Sure.”
Hearing this, Mrs. Smith suppressed the excitement in her heart and held Mr. Smith’s hand tightly.
However, this did not stop her from hating Rachel more.
She had wanted to teach Rachel a lesson that no matter how good she was, she couldn’t stand up to the Smith family.
