After hesitating for a moment, she picked up her phone. "Hey, Charlene. Daniel dropped by just now. Do you want to meet up for a card game or two? Dana's back. She specifically asked to play as many rounds as possible with you."

Daniel had just left the company when Laila called him.

"Mr. Ashcroft, we ran into a small problem as soon as we started running the company. We might need you to pop over for a bit," she said seriously.

Daniel raised an eyebrow instantly. "Alright, I'll be there."

"At the end of the day, they just want to get their hands on the genetic longevity formula! I've already investigated the cause—back then, most of our senior employees were poached by Riverston Group!" Conor huffed coldly in return.

"I don't mind giving up on the others, but I still need to do all I can to get Mr. Vail to work for us again!" Laila replied.

"I'm just worried that Riverston Group won't let him go. Furthermore, they've already reached out to us as soon as we spread the news of our comeback as a company. Do you think they'll let him go that easily?" Conor rebuked, his brows already tangled into a frown.

Laila could only sigh in response.

It was easy for Ashcroft Group to restart as a company. But the issue still lay within the main question—how should the company form the team that would be in charge of all of their research?

"The truth is, Mr. Cody was very confident that the project would be a huge success. Unfortunately, the accident happened after that, which by right should have voided the contract. But if we wish to reopen Ashcroft Group, Riverston Group will never let this contract slide."

Laila chuckled bitterly after that. She was supposed to tell Daniel about this incident, but it had happened so many years ago that she forgot about it as well.
