Chapter 196: Chapter 196 Under the Moon, Soaked in the Rain

Kelly’s POV

I held my breath for a while before I blew it roughly while sitting on the bed. The house was old but it had complete furniture. I was also amazed by how the mansion stayed beautiful in spite of the fact that no one’s taking care of it.

“You should sleep now,” Pierce whispered as he sat beside me and held my hand. “I’ll look after you.”

I nodded and slowly lay on the bed. He lay beside me, hugged my waist and started brushing my hair using his fingers.

“I was so scared earlier,” I whispered. “I thought we’d lose each other.”

He shook his head and kissed my hair. “No one’s losing anyone, Kelly.”

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I was almost dozing off when I heard Mason’s loud voice followed by a series of bangs on the door.

“GET UP!”

I got off the bed, following Pierce as he walked towards the door and opened it. I saw Mason knocking on another door and Matt went out of that room. He looked worried and miserable. I know he wants to save Emily, but he still needs to rest to recover.

“SARA!” Mason banged the door on the other room. “Damn it!”

He went back in front of us. “I’m gonna find Sara. Go to the forest part behind this house. Dad’s men are scattered on the entry road, blocking us.”

My eyes widened. “What?”

“Just fcking go, Kelly! You too, Matt!”

“I’m not leaving you here, Mason!”

“I still need to find your stubborn aunt!”

Matt shook his head but I grabbed his arm, earning his attention.

“Mason will be fine. He’ll find us later,” I paused and turned to Mason. “Right?”

He immediately nodded and handed a car key to Pierce. “There’s a road at the end of the forest. There’s a car hidden in there. If I don’t come within 15 minutes, leave.”

“Goddamn it, Mason! We’re not gonna leave you here—”

“I’ll find another way, Matt. They won’t kill me. You know that. They’re here for Kelly and if you want your cousin to survive, you’ll do as I say.”

Matt swallowed hard and stared at his twin before he glanced at me. He nodded and offered me his hand. I held his hand before I looked at Pierce.

“Use this,” Mason gave Matt a gun which shocked the latter.

Matt accepted the gun after a few seconds and held my hand tighter. We started walking away from Mason while Pierce was following us.

“I’ll lead the way,” Pierce said and walked in front of us. I kept on staring at my husband while Matt’s guiding me.

We’re running again. Running for our lives. The forest was dark and our only light was the moon. I want to think that we’ll survive this night but I don’t wanna disappoint myself. No matter what we do, we’ll be chased by Connor Foster and I know he won’t stop until he succeeds in killing me.

A gunshot echoed in the silence of the night. My eyes widened as I looked back.

“KELLY!”

I gasped. Connor Foster’s here. He’s lost it. He personally came here to kill me.

Another hand grabbed my hand. I looked at the owner of the hand holding mine. It was Pierce and he’s looking at me with darkened eyes.

“Keep running, Kelly,” Matt whispered. “Take her, Pierce.”

I shook my head and turned to Matt. “What are you going to do?”
