Chapter 50: The Unruly Healer Pushed Archduke to Bed

Even after spending all night learning about Mana problems, Xion did not get even a glimpse of Moon Affliction.

He was suddenly glad that he had sneaked into Marquis Roberto’s library in the middle of the night. If not for that, he would have no idea this strange disease even existed.

Affliction, as the name suggests, was the occurrence of pain. According to Allen, ancient people believed it was related to Goddess Myrtia.

Because she was the deity of light, this disease could only hide under the dark night. Its unpredictable changes, just like the ever-changing phases of the moon, earned it the name Moon Affliction.

Xion heard it just for the sake of hearing it. There was no useful information, and after knowing about the Devil’s spawn, he was even less likely to believe anything.

Darius was lazily leaning on the comfortable couch like a king. He had been curious how Xion would react now. "It’s not a disease, little healer. It’s a curse."

The healer did react. But...

Xion looked straight at Rael and then, not so elegantly, rolled his eyes. "Curse my ass. If I follow you guys, that Nikolai should be giving birth by now."

Darius: "..."

Ray coughed to suppress his laugh. I know rolling eyes is mannerless, but why does His Grace’s blank face look funny?

The already guilty Allen: "... I apologize."

Xion waved his hand. "Nah, you were just unaware," he trotted toward Darius and sat cross-legged on the floor near the cushioned seat. "Give me your wrist."

How many healers had claimed to ease his problem until now? Even the most arrogant royal healers had never dared to utter more than necessary.

Yet here he was, casually ordering the Archduke to offer his wrist as if he were a mere commoner.

Despite that, Darius decided to entertain Xion. Holding his hand with his palm up, he sat there as if not looking forward to his cure but rather watching an interesting show.

Xion did not notice anything. He curled his palm on the soft skin and felt the rhythm of the heartbeat at the tips of his fingers.

Instead of measuring only the vital stats, this time, Xion drilled a thin tendril of his mana into the skin.

As the wisp floated in Darius’ arm, Xion ’saw’ every part, every vein clearly. It was as if he were doing an advanced scan.

What a convenient skill!

However, his giddiness evaporated when he reached Rael’s heart. It was as though a war was raging inside Darius’ body. Not a war of victory but one of decay.

A lump of mass was tirelessly pumping blood, but there were obvious signs of festering on it.

If that was not enough, the child’s entire body was rotting. The dark mana was drilling into the tender veins, leaking poison into his system.

His lungs were covered in blackened patches, like a corpse unearthed from deep waters.
