Chapter 51: A Rare Treassure

Xion’s heart pounded as he scanned the glowing description on the system panel until his gaze fell on the leftmost option.

Ethereal Balm of Reprieve

A rare alchemical elixir designed to numb pain. It coats the affected regions with a soothing layer of neutral mana, countering harmful or volatile energies.

Time Limit: 10–12 hours.

Overuse Warning: May cause mana strain or mild immunity with frequent use.

Price: 25,000 Merit Points.

Twenty-five thousand Merit Points was no small amount, especially for someone who had debated for hours about buying a spare robe.

However, Xion did not hesitate for even a second before pushing the purchase button.

A small, circular box materialized before him, floating in the air before falling into his sweaty palms with a faint hum. The smooth glass was cool against his feverish skin, but he did not dare touch it.

What if his unclean hands contaminated the contents?

Rushing into the bathroom, Xion scrubbed his hands thoroughly. Only then did he return to the bed and open the lid with delicate care.

Through the circular glass lid, he saw them, ten tiny, glistening blue pills nestled snugly inside. Each pill rolled around as he tilted the box.

They shimmered faintly with a blue sheen. Xion could tell they were coated with something special, something that was definitely not mana.

These pills would not cure Rael’s problem, but they would grant him some relief from his pain. For now, that was enough.

Without wasting any time, Xion went to Rael’s place. If not for his own anxiousness, he might have noticed the strange silence in the room.

Allen and Ray were standing near the bed, their faces still, and unreadable. As for Rael, the boy was exactly where Xion had left him.

Kneeling by Rael’s side, Xion opened the box and very gently placed one of the pills in the smaller palm. "Here, swallow it with water."

Allen was quick to hand over a glass of water before respectfully stepping back to his original position.

Xion, however, kept his eyes on Rael. Watching the boy gulp down the medicine, he could not help but think that even this simple action must have been painful for him.

Honestly, Xion had no idea how this kid was still alive. Maybe it was some accumulated good karma shielding the sweet angel from death, or perhaps his inherent mana was strong enough to hold on.

I will definitely find the cure for you... Xion silently vowed.

"How are you feeling?" he asked. He did have confidence in the quality of the system’s products.

From food to medicine, everything the system offered worked flawlessly.

His thoughts were confirmed when Rael answered him.

"It doesn’t hurt anymore."

Xion breathed a sigh of relief. Without caring about his image, he slumped onto the bed. "That’s good."

Darius stared intently at the pill in Xion’s hand and then at the black-haired head buried in the mattress. Those pale green eyes narrowed in contemplation.

"What is this?" He finally questioned.

Xion raised his head. "It’s a special medicine. Um, you remember Minato? My teacher?" he asked while silently apologizing to his mentor for pushing the blame onto him.

Darius nodded. Despite his frail body, his memory had always been impeccable.

"He made these. I know the ingredients," Xion added quickly. He could learn about those from the system’s detailed descriptions. "But I’ve never made them before. These are the only ones I have for now."

They truly were rare treasures. Ray and Allen both thought the same thing.

Xion turned back. Ah, the order was only for those two.
