"I hope L.S. Entertainment can continue to support young people who want to make a name for themselves in the entertainment industry but don't have much money," Serena said softly.
Samuel let out a small sigh.
L.S. Entertainment was, after all, Serena's passion project. Even though she had stepped away, she still cared deeply about it.
"I promise I will," he replied sincerely.
"And there's something else," Serena continued. "I've set aside a portion for my own retirement."
Samuel chuckled. "That's the right move. Do what you can, but don't give everything you've got."
"Will it still be anonymous?" he asked.
"Yes," she confirmed.
"Alright then." Samuel started the car and drove Serena home.
As the elevator doors closed slowly, Serena smiled to herself. Samuel was the most respectful person she had ever met. It wasn't that he was old-fashioned, but he truly respected others. He would never ask to come inside unless she invited him.
If only... That troublesome name popped into her head, and she quickly took out her keys and unlocked the door.
The apartment was pitch dark. She fumbled for the light switch and turned on the light, only to jump back in shock.
Aaron was sitting on the living room sofa. The light from the room cast shadows on his face, making his features appear even more chiseled. His fingers drummed lightly on his knee, betraying a hint of impatience. When he saw Serena, he raised his gaze, his eyes as dark and unfathomable as a deep well.
"How... how did you get in?" she stammered.
Aaron stood up leisurely. "I had the building management open the door for me."
"Aaron, what on earth do you want?" Serena demanded.
"I mean a love that's unique, one of a kind," Serena enunciated each word clearly.
Aaron's expression darkened. "There's no such thing as a one-of-a-kind love in this world."
"Isn't there? What about your feelings for Cynthia Lynwood?" Serena challenged.
Aaron's frown deepened. "I've told you before, I don't have feelings for Cynthia Lynwood. The only reason I look after her is because of obligation."
"I know," Serena said. "Because Cynthia Lynwood donated a kidney to your sister, Evelyn, right?"
Aaron's face hardened. "How did you find out about that?"
"That's none of your concern," Serena retorted, turning to open the door.
But in the next instant, her wrist was caught in a vice-like grip. She turned back, wincing at the pain and startled by the intensity in Aaron's crimson eyes.
