Just as the conversation was about to get interesting, Joy pushed open the office door.

Her eyes immediately fell on Aaron, who was half-kneeling on the couch. His shirt was in disarray, the collar open to reveal his well-toned chest.

Near the sink, water was splashed everywhere. The mere sight of it suggested a scene more scandalous than one could imagine, not to mention the palpable tension in the air.

Joy, emboldened by the surprise, exclaimed, "Mr. Vance, what brings you here? Where's Serena?"

Aaron lifted his gaze slowly, just in time to see Samuel and Rock entering the room.

The moment they took in Aaron’s position, their expressions changed dramatically.

They stood frozen, unsure whether to advance or retreat.

With a slight smirk, Aaron rose from the couch. "Serena? What about her?"

"I just saw Serena..." Joy hurried over to the couch, only to find it empty. She was dumbfounded. "How can this be? I was sure..."

"Sure of what?" Aaron asked, buttoning his shirt with deliberate grace, though there was an edge to his movements that made Joy's hair stand on end.

Terrified, she fell silent.

But she was certain! She had seen Serena follow Aaron into this very office.

Joy glanced around the room. It was spacious yet offered no hiding spots.

Where could Serena have gone?

Samuel's gaze shifted between Aaron and Joy, growing darker.

"Since Serena isn't here, let's look elsewhere," he suggested, leading the way out of the office.

Rock followed suit.

Joy was the last to leave, her mind spinning with frustration.

Rock gave Samuel a measured look before leaving.

Only when Rock's silhouette disappeared did Samuel finally speak. "What on earth is going on?"

Joy feigned innocence. "Brother, what do you mean?"

"Are you still trying to hide it from me?!" Samuel turned abruptly, his eyes filled with disappointment. "You betrayed Serena. She's unwell because of you, Joy. What are you really trying to do?"

Tears brimmed in Joy's eyes, spilling over like a broken dam.

"Fine, I'll tell you why! Because I like Rock, but he likes Serena! So I wanted Serena to go back to Aaron. It's that simple. Are you satisfied now?"

Samuel opened his mouth, struggling to comprehend.

Joy took a deep breath. Speaking the truth felt oddly liberating. "Brother, it's either her or me in this family. You choose!"
