Giles was silent for a moment, then finally gave a nod.

After a brief pause, William suggested, “Since everything’s settled, why don’t we head back?”

Giles was the first to leave.

Gabrielle lingered, clearly worried about Serena and wanting to stay behind. But after exchanging a glance with William, she changed her mind.

She realized if she stuck around, she’d only be a third wheel.

“Hey, Mr. Handsome, wait for me…” she called out, hurrying after Giles.

Giles picked up his pace, and soon the two of them disappeared, leaving the courtroom quiet once more.

Serena finally couldn’t hold herself upright any longer. She slumped into a chair, exhausted, as if she’d just fought an endless battle.

William wheeled himself over to her side, his voice as gentle as a summer breeze. “Come on. Let me take you somewhere.”

Serena gave him a puzzled look, but her legs seemed to move on their own, following William out to the car.

Over an hour later, they pulled up outside a bar.

Serena glanced at the neon sign above the door: *Last Call*.

“This place belongs to a friend of mine,” William explained. “The bartenders here are famous both here and abroad. Maybe their drinks can help you forget your troubles for a while.”

Serena hesitated, surprised that William had brought her to a bar. In his wheelchair, he was bound to attract attention in a place like this.

But William didn’t wait for her to protest. He was already rolling himself inside.

The bar was packed wall to wall, voices and laughter blending with pounding music.

A chorus of mocking laughter rose from the people around them.

But before anyone could react, there was a sharp crack.

Everyone froze, staring at Serena in shock.

No one had seen where it came from, but suddenly Serena was holding a feather duster—the kind you might find in any cleaning closet—and she’d just landed a stinging blow on the heckler’s side.

The man doubled over in pain, about to lash out, but two burly men appeared out of nowhere, grabbing him on either side and holding him fast.

The crowd was still trying to figure out what had just happened when a plaintive voice called out from behind the bar.

“Well, well, who’s got the guts to mess with our Young Master William tonight?”
