Chapter 5 novel Burn the Marriage, Keep the Crown

"Ma'am!" the manager cried out in alarm as soon as he saw Cynthia Lynwood faint.

But in the very next moment, a figure moved faster than the manager, rushing to Cynthia Lynwood's side and scooping her up before swiftly leaving.

That tall and commanding presence could only belong to Aaron.

Serena allowed herself a small, sardonic smile.

With Aaron having driven off, she had no choice but to call a cab to get home.

Unfortunately, finding a cab near the dealership was no easy task.

Serena, in her high heels, walked for nearly an hour before a driver finally accepted her ride request.

Once inside the car, she glanced down at her blistered feet.

She let out a sigh of relief.

At least it was her feet that hurt, not her heart.

...

After the incident at the dealership, Serena didn’t see Aaron for several days.

Not that she needed to investigate his whereabouts.

Cynthia Lynwood was always eager to report them herself.

[9:05 AM: Aaron personally fed me soup today!]

[6:23 PM: Aaron peeled a grapefruit for me. It looks delicious, want to try? Haha, you'll never get the chance!]

The message included a picture of the neatly peeled grapefruit.

[10:35 PM: Aaron is sleeping right beside me, hehe~]

Attached was a photo of Aaron resting his head on his arm by Cynthia Lynwood’s bedside.

“…”

Serena glanced at the messages before tossing her phone into her bag.

Perhaps she had grown numb. Over the past few days, seeing Cynthia Lynwood’s updates about Aaron felt like watching a jester's performance.

Exiting the car, Serena walked into L.S. Entertainment.

This company was a joint venture she had started with Aaron.

Initially, it was meant to bind Aaron closer to her, ensuring he wouldn't easily end things.

Ironically, it ended up being her own trap.

“You’re planning to leave Alderburg and head back to Northspire by yourself?” The company’s vice president, Samuel Lewis, stared at Serena in shock. “Does Aaron know?”

Serena replied, “I haven’t told him yet. Please keep it a secret for me.”

“Of course, of course,” Samuel nodded, still in disbelief. “Don’t you love Aaron? Can you really bear to leave him?”

Serena had been chasing after Aaron for seven years, dedicating the best years of her life to him.

“Yeah, I'm done with him,” Serena said nonchalantly. “Once I leave, I’ll leave the company’s stock division to you. Thanks in advance.”

Since she moved in, Aaron rarely came back.

Serena entered the guest room.

She and Aaron slept in separate rooms.

The wardrobe was filled with clothes from various luxury brands.

All gifts from Aaron.

Yet Serena had no interest in them.

She bent down and pulled out her suitcase.

As she was packing, a car horn sounded from downstairs.

“Mr. Vance…”

“Mr. Vance…”

“Mr. Vance…”

The respectful voices floated in from the entrance.

Aaron had returned.

Serena hurriedly shoved the suitcase back into the closet.

She didn’t want Aaron to know she was leaving.
