In recent days, Serena had barely gotten any proper rest. Yet, just as she was trying to take a moment, her phone rang. Startled, Serena glanced at the screen and breathed a sigh of relief when she saw it was a voice call from Director Thomas. She picked up the phone.
"Director Thomas?"
Hearing Serena's voice, Director Thomas also seemed relieved. But soon enough, his tone was tinged with a mix of concern and mild reproach. "Serena, what's going on? I've been trying to call you, but your phone was unreachable."
Warmth filled Serena's heart. "I'm sorry, Director. My SIM card went missing."
"So that's what happened," Director Thomas sighed deeply. "I'm just glad you're okay."
"Was there something you needed to talk about?"
"It's nothing urgent. Remember you asked me to find someone to help manage your father's antiques? Well, I found someone. He's a former president of the Historical Artifacts Association and just retired this year. He's got a wealth of experience with artifacts. You can trust him with the antiques without any worry. Plus, he owns several properties in Northspire specifically to house collections. Knowing you have a villa full of antiques, he even offered to clear out one of his villas for you."
Serena, who had been stressed about finding a place, felt a huge weight lift off her shoulders. "That's great! How much is the rent and management fee per month?"
"No charge. The former president said he's more than happy to have the chance to study your father's antiques."
"That doesn't seem right..."
"What's wrong with that?" Director Thomas chuckled. "Serena, you're in the business too; you know some of your father's antiques are priceless. The former president is willing to do this because he's keenly interested in your father's collection."
"You must find Serena tonight. If you don't, none of you will be getting any sleep," Aaron declared sternly to the staff and bodyguards before storming into his study.
Inside, Frederick was already waiting. As soon as Aaron entered, Frederick deftly turned the computer monitor towards him.
"This is the last footage we have of Serena."
Aaron frowned, his slender fingers gripping the mouse to zoom in on the footage. The image froze on Serena as she exited a restaurant.
Aaron scrutinized the scene closely, his eyes narrowing. Suddenly, something caught his attention—a figure trailing behind Serena.
