Serena had been in the hospital for two days, and finally, she could get out of bed and move around freely.

The first thing she did was to look for the doctor who had tricked her into coming to the hospital.

However, the nurse in the gastroenterology department told her that Dr. Owens had resigned.

"When did this happen?"

"About a week ago," the nurse said after a moment of thought, "I'm not sure what happened, but it seemed urgent. And one of our nurses left on the same day."

Serena felt a chill run down her spine.

She then used the excuse of having left something in Dr. Owens' office to request access to the security footage from the administration.

But the administrative staff told her the footage was gone.

"What do you mean?"

"A week ago, the hospital's computer system was hit by a virus, and all the surveillance footage was destroyed."

Serena's eyes narrowed.

Both the witness and the evidence were gone.

This was too much of a coincidence.

With a heavy heart, Serena returned to her hospital room.

But at the door, she encountered two people.

Seeing Serena, a woman in a tailored dress scoffed, "I thought you were hiding."

"You—" Katherine took a deep breath, "I won't waste my words. I'm here to tell you that your engagement to my son is off!"

Initially, Katherine hadn't opposed Serena and Aaron being together. After all, the wedding gift was a villa full of antiques left by Xander. But Serena was stubborn. She wouldn't sell it and insisted on maintaining it, which was like pouring money into a bottomless pit.

What Katherine didn't know was that Serena hadn't spent Aaron’s money. In fact, she'd helped him make a lot.

When Aaron first invested in L.S. Entertainment, Serena managed everything. Though a novice, she quickly got the hang of it, and within six months, the company was profitable. Later, she handed over full control to Samuel because she was focused entirely on Aaron.

Serena feigned confusion at Katherine’s words. "Marriage? Who said I was going to marry Aaron?"

Aaron hadn't agreed to stop seeing Cynthia Lynwood, so why would she marry him? Even if he had agreed, she wouldn't marry him!

"Stop pretending," Vivian snapped. "My brother already asked Victor to start preparing for the wedding!"

The news of Serena and Aaron's wedding came from Cynthia Lynwood. Katherine and Vivian didn’t believe it at first but were stunned when Aaron confirmed it and even hired a wedding planner.
