Diana’s anger flared as she continued, “Today’s supposed to be Suzy’s big day, yet you made a grand entrance with Anne by your side. How do you think that makes Suzy feel?” 

The more Diana thought about it, the angrier slie got. She’d wanted to chat with Suzy earlier, but seeing her brother so cozy with Amne left her feeling embarrassed. She had more to say when a maid approached her. 

“Miss Wright?” 

“Yes?” Diana replied. 

The maid handed her a slip of paper. 

Diana opened it, and her expression instantly changed. She turned to leave but was accidentally jostled, causing the note to slip from her fingers. 

Before she could bend down to retrieve it, Anne snatched it up and, with exaggerated volume, read aloud, “Diana, I’m in the study. Come quickly.” 

Diana felt an overwhelming urge to tear Anne apart. “Anne, did you do that on purpose?” 

Feigning innocence, Anne said, “Not at all! I just read it without thinking. But Diana, this is Suzy’s handwriting, and she sounds urgent. You’d better go check on her.” 

Diana, focused on Suzy’s well–being, simply shot Anne a cold glare before hurrying off. 

Hearing Anne’s announcement, a few curious guests followed Diana, their interest piqued. Nearly everyone drifted toward the study, including Claude, who was wheeled along by someone eager to “help.” 

Soon, only Dylan remained behind. 

Anne, noticing Dylan hadn’t moved, urged him, “Mr. Dylan, let’s go, too. If Suzy’s in trouble, maybe we can help!” 

Dylan glanced at Anne, saying nothing, and began walking toward the crowd. 

Anne felt a strange look in his gaze, something unsettling she couldn’t quite place, but she brushed it off and followed him eagerly. 

This was a show she wasn’t about to miss. 

Outside the Goodwin family study, a crowd had gathered, filling every inch of space. Standing at the closed door, Diana called out worriedly, “Suzy, are you in there?” 

She wanted to call her “Sister–in–law,” but in a formal setting like this, it didn’t seem appropriate. She wasn’t worried about her brother’s reputation but feared Suzy might become the target of ridicule.

Diana called out several more times, but there was no response from inside. 

Just then, Anne stepped forward, her tone concerned. “Suzy hasn’t answered for so long. something must’ve happened! Since the door’s locked from the inside, we can’t open it from here. Let’s break it down before we miss the best chance to help her!” 

The crowd quickly chimed in, “Yes, yes!” 

Martin agreed as well, his worry for Suzy evident. 

He signaled for a few male servants to prepare to force open the door. But before they could, a calm voice cut through the commotion. 

“Apologies for the delay–I accidentally spilled something on my dress, so I had to change. Thank you all for waiting. 

Everyone turned, only to see Suzy approaching, elegant and poised. 

She had changed from her cream–colored, floor–length gown into a perfectly tailored, cream–colored cocktail dress that hugged her figure. The shift in style highlighted another layer of her beauty, leaving the onlookers in awe. 

Dylan’s dark gaze subtly shifted as he watched her approach, his expression unreadable. 

Anne, however, looked stunned, unable to hide the disbelief in her eyes. 

If Suzy hadn’t been in the study, then who…? 

“Suzy! I was calling out for you, but you didn’t respond. So, you weren’t in the study?” Diana suddenly realized something was off. “If you weren’t in the study, then who gave me that note? And they even went to the trouble of imitating your handwriting!” 

“I’d like to know that myself.” Suzy turned to Martin. “Grandpa, maybe this was a special gift‘ arranged for us.” 

Martin’s gaze turned steely. “Is that so? Well then, I’d like to see just what kind of ‘surprise ‘it is!”
