After Claude’s funeral, Suzy officially took up her position at Harlow Corporation. 

The news of her appointment as CEO caused an uproar in various circles, with public opinion quickly pushing her into the spotlight. 

Some comments questioned her character, stirring even more controversy. 

“First, she becomes the Goodwin family’s god granddaughter, and now she’s Harlow Corporation’s new CEO? Isn’t she moving up a little too quickly?” 

“Smells like a conspiracy to me!” 

“A woman like her is poison–the more beautiful, the more dangerous!” 

These remarks left Allen, Riley, and their group fuming. 

Riley spat, “These brainless keyboard warriors–I’d love to cut off their fingers!” 

Raven added, “Nothing but a bunch of nosy fools who can’t wait to stir up trouble!” 

Allen said, “It’s clear someone’s stirring the pot on purpose. I’ve already had people trace those fake accounts.” 

While they were furious, Suzy, the very subject of the scandal, remained unbothered. It was as if none of the comments even touched her. Her focus was entirely on one thing. 

“In Harlow Corporation’s name, file a lawsuit against Desmond,” Suzy declared, her gaze cold. “Charge him with attempted murder.” 

Three days later, Desmond received the related legal notice. He showed up in the president’s office with a pained expression, setting the notice on Dylan’s desk. “Sir, Mrs. Wright is convinced I’m the one who killed Claude. She’s filed a suit against me.” 

Dylan looked down at the stark black text on the white A4 paper, his expression unreadable. “The Goodwin family’s eyewitness still hasn’t been found?” 

“Not yet!” Desmond nearly wailed. “I was planning to confront that servant, but she disappeared the night before. Mrs. Wright probably thinks we killed her to silence her.” 

He was at his wit’s end. “I still don’t understand it. I didn’t let go, and Claude was sitting still, not moving at all. I have no idea why his wheelchair suddenly tipped over. And who would be daring enough to use Claude’s life to drive a wedge between you and Mrs. Wright? 

Desmond did have a prime suspect in mind: Anne and Helena. 

After all, they’d been targeting Suzy at every opportunity, whether it was at the recent bidding event or the family recognition ceremony.

He suspected that their actions were all part of a larger scheme, designed to drive a wedge between Dylan and Suzy. 

He’d even sent people to keep an eye on the two women at the police station for several days, but nothing suspicious came to light. 

So far, they hadn’t even learned of Claude’s death. 

If they were responsible, it seemed likely they’d have some accomplices. Either they’d intentionally cut off communication to avoid exposure, or, perhaps, they were genuinely uninvolved. 

If Anne and Helena weren’t behind it, then there was only one other possibility… 

Dylan noticed Desmond’s hesitation. “If you have something to say, spit it out.” 

“Could it be the same person who drugged you three years ago?” 

No one else would be bold enough to attempt something like this. 

“If it really is that person, then there’s probably more to come. And this accusation against me may actually stick in the end,” he said with a bitter smile. “I can handle a few years in prison, but the misunderstanding Mrs. Wright has toward you…that won’t be easy to clear up.” 

As Dylan watched Desmond’s face twist with worry, he said nothing. 

Instead, he picked up his jacket and car keys from the chair and quietly left the office.
