Suzy nodded briefly to the group, then took her seat at the head of the table. Once she was settled, the others exchanged glances and sat down as well. 

She looked over them and spoke softly, “I know you’re all unsettled by my decision–not because I didn’t consult you beforehand, but because you’re worried about my safety.” 

After working together for so many years, Suzy understood each of their temperaments perfectly. She knew their loyalty was unwavering; their concern for her went beyond any personal interest. 

They each nodded in agreement, and Allen was the first to speak up. “Boss, things haven’t been exactly calm lately. Why reveal your identity now?” 

“If I don’t, would things become better?” Suzy’s expression was calm. “You’ve seen everything happening lately. They’ve been aware of my identity for some time now. Continuing to hide serves no purpose and only makes them think I’ve grown used to being a coward.” 

She scanned their faces. “Hiding for twenty years, without avenging my family, and constantly being led by the nose–it’s sickening. From now on, whatever comes, we’ll face it. At worst, death will reunite me with my loved ones.” 

She wanted to see just whose will was stronger 

Seeing Suzy’s resolve, the group didn’t argue further. Instead, they voiced their loyalty in unison, “We’re willing to die with you, Boss!” 

Suzy’s eyes began to mist as she looked at them. 

Pressing her lips together, she revealed, “Hawk is the one responsible for hurting Diana.” 

They were shocked. “How could that be?” 

“They say Claude saved him, and he attacked Diana out of revenge against Dylan.” 

Suzy asked, “Do you believe that?” 

Riley shook her head first. “If Claude really saved him, then why didn’t he show up sooner to protect him?” 

Raven agreed. “Exactly. Now he wants to help him after his death? Isn’t that a little late?” 

Allen nodded. “Which means Hawk is probably working for the bastard hiding in the shadows. I’ve got to admit, that bastard’s got some nerve. To even bring Hawk out of retirement after our mentor passed away.” 

Both Allen and Suzy shared the same mentor.

Five years ago, Suzy’s mentor passed away from poisoning. At first, there was suspicion of foul play, but after Hawk conducted his own investigation, he concluded that their mentor had accidentally poisoned himself while experimenting with a new toxin, misjudging the dosage. 

Suzy’s mentor was a poison expert, notorious for testing his creations on himself. Despite several mishaps, Suzy had tried countless times to dissuade him from this risky practice, but he was stubborn, insistent on using his unusual methods. 

After his death, the leadership of the clan would normally have passed to Hawk. 

However, he handed the reins to Suzy, admitting he was tired of the endless conflict and wanted a quieter life. From that day, he withdrew from the world, living in seclusion for five years–only to now stand against Suzy. 

Riley frowned. “If that’s really the case, he might be a tougher opponent than we thought.” 

Allen scoffed. “I’m not convinced. We were caught off guard before, but now we know it’s him. Hawk may know us well, but we know him just as well.” 

Allen and Riley exchanged remarks, while Avalon remained silent as usual. No one thought much of it, as she was typically quiet, but none of them noticed the flicker of something unusual in her eyes. 

After assessing the situation, Allen turned to Suzy. “Boss, what’s the plan?” 

Suzy’s eyes narrowed slightly. “We’re going to the Goodwin family to find Mark.”
